4:44 AM
This night I had an idea that would have fix all our HNQ problem. But then I woke up and completely forgot about it... (that was probably some dream non-sense but it's still frustration ><)
Ah, now I remember about it! It was just to ask for a direct link to IPS in the HNQ barre (bar?) while we were under the "HNQ ban". Probably not that awesome of an idea but still not worthless

I'd have to agree that it's something, but I can see some issues arising, like why just IPS, and not other sites that are not in HNQ either? I'm too tired now to think of others but I will sleep on it. I've been talking to hubby and really reading up on not just this issue but the last time this happened.

@ElizB Because we are the only one that are definitively banned from HNQ? I agree that some other site (Veganism & Vegetarianism) can really use some publicity but they aren't banned, they just don't have controversial enough question.

JAD
5:22 AM
@Noon the HNQ works because it shows interesting titles/clickbait. A simple link to the frontpage wouldn't compare I'm afraid

@JAD Yeah but it would still be better than nothing :(

my 2c is that the automatic hotness score is a bit bad in general, it's self reinforcing and optimizes for controversy (many answers)

JAD
yeah, I liked the suggestion of excluding votes coming from HNQ for the score

they ought to replace it with a system for site members to nominate a question as good with some process, and HNQ then gets picked from those
but with the feature backlog being as it is right now I expect ips to just stay off HNQ for a couple months and then maybe something happening mid next year
maybe

+1

5:27 AM
Yeah. I read up a lot of the blogs that eclipse this issue, and the first blog is pretty long and describes SO's issues well, but uses rather harsh words, but for good reason

@ElizB What are we talking about here?

I'm not gonna get into those details for now I was thinking of asking one of the mods to give a gist of what's going on

@ElizB Monica's?

Hers covers the response well, yes. It's 1:30 am here, I would love to continue this when I am much more awake :)

Well then, good night :)

5:30 AM
You too :)

Well, I already sleeped but thanks :P
(it's 7:30 am here)

(To be clear, ElizB is talking about both this recent HNQ situation and the prior instance of Twitter-driven development, which was the whole welcome wagon + code of conduct stuff.)

5:42 AM
I was semi-fine with the CoC stuff because they at least solicited and selectively applied community feedback throughout

JAD
@Magisch similar to how they now solicit feedback on HNQ, after acting on it

the coc was put in after 2 rounds of feedback tho

JAD
after forcing the Welcome Wagon down our throats

@Magisch @JAD I feel there's actually a much broader issue

baby steps, this time was worse

5:45 AM
@Magisch actually I feel that's the same mistake SE's making - its not about the incidents
its about the broader relationship between the network and company

JAD
good point
I'm not around long enough to judge how much different that was before

The way I explained it to ElizB was that the main problem with the welcome wagon stuff was that it was thrust upon the SE network all of a sudden, prompted by a relative "outsider" (at the very least, not via Meta). But it and what followed was generally a good thing, at least? With this HNQ issue, an entire site was negatively affected because of someone who wasn't involved in SE at all and did not demonstrate good intentions (unlike the first one).
And the fact that the change was made within 40 minutes pissed people off because the community asked for it and that change could've been made long ago, but it happened because of someone not involved in the community.

@El'endiaStarman or "We don't really talk any more"

Well, in any case, I believe we're supposed to get another in-depth response on it tomorrow (Monday/Tuesday)? Not sure how well-known that is.

@El'endiaStarman oh?
these conversations are awkward ><

5:56 AM
Yeah, indeed.

JAD
remember that MSE post during the 2016 elections by SE mods?

Not really, no...

JAD
I can't find the post anymore, but they used MSE as a soapbox to speak out against Trump as a candidate
mentioning it as it was another example of mixing up SE as a company and the network itself

Rob
What do you mean be SE mods? Employees?

eh
@JAD so, here's the thing

JAD
6:00 AM
@Rob IIRC, it was Joel, but I can't find it anymore

I don't really care about Joel's use of SE as a soapbox for his political views. He's welcome to that.
Probably MSO

Rob
@JAD Are you talking about the take a stand post? Yeah, that caught a huge amount of flak. But that's a bit different, in my eyes

JAD
@Rob yeah, that's the one

I'm not american. I don't have any say in who you elect, and I do think stuff like that's the 'human' face of the company.

JAD
@JourneymanGeek The problem many had with that is that a statement like that on MSE carries the weight of the network, while not necessarily the entire network agrees with that.

6:04 AM
@JAD honestly I think that's a distraction.

JAD
fair enough

As is the welcome wagon and related drama.
or even the new theme drama.

JAD
well, it's in the past

So, I've been here for 8 years.
9?
Quite a few years
I really feel with stuff like this, that there's a disconnect with the community, and the resources for it are not really sufficient.
People arn't mad cause SE's responding to twitter. People are mad cause SE is responding to twitter, while asking us to be patient cause "we have other priorities", sometimes asking for the same things.

The reason why SE responds more to social media rather than meta, is the same reason why airline customer service is often better over social media than over the phone or in person.

JAD
6:11 AM
but just because it's perfectly explainable, doesn't mean people have to like the explanation

Rob
@gparyani Yes, both are to avoid bad publicity... But the similarities end there

@JourneymanGeek Thats a self reinforcing problem
people get incensed and lash out when they do talk to us, so they talk to us less

@Magisch On the other hand
Monica is angry
I'm .. angry.

I know, but still. Color me cautiously pessimistic

@Magisch and here's a thing
If we arn't telling them how we're unhappy, how will they know?

6:23 AM
@JourneymanGeek I do think they know
they might just not do anything about it

@Magisch ehhh, kinda

Guess I was right about their unwillingness to handle certain things the whole time.

I think it's too early to say for sure.
They messed up bad by moving too fast the first time (removing IPS from HNQ) and they really don't want to mess up again by moving too fast to "fix" things.

@El'endiaStarman I think seeing the big picture about the network would help a lot
besides, they got us to help, right? ;)

let me just say I dont envy tim post right now
as easy as it is to make suggestions on how to handle this from the sidelines, it's probably a lot more complex under the hood and not as straightforward

6:36 AM
@Magisch well, that's an assumption we all make

A long time before this incident, I had already lost trust in SE's ability to handle things on meta quickly.

and we're somewhat mindful of when critiquing
They're good people

yeah
I just assume all of them meant well, they just didn't end up doing well in this instance

So we owe them consideration
but at the same time, well
@Magisch I think a critical thing is we can't really just look at isolated instances of things happening
I think an essential thing I'd like to see (well other than the big X mas present so to speak) is that SE realises they need to, and have to talk to us about stuff like this
We'll help!

They could even ask questions on IPS about phrasing and how to approach us! :P

6:40 AM
ooh

on that note:
There is no doubt we've stopped making changes for core users and your observations about how that's gotten worse ring true to me. And we've certainly seen negative feedback on meta (downvotes being the most trivial). The result may not be what you hope for, however. Often (and more often recently) I've heard colleagues dismiss meta feedback. Nobody wants to listen to relentless negativity. Hence this meta post written in the dead of night so I can finally sleep. As an intermediary between the community and the company, I'd like to help meta feedback be less easily ignorable. — Jon Ericson ♦ Aug 19 at 15:47

@Magisch I've defended the new design to a big extent
I did kinda vaguely was the voice behind getting one changed (and I'm happy we kept the WB bot)
also
honest positive criticism] is rare
and insanely hard

7:08 AM
<-- does not want to be awake

<-- feels the same but has been at work for already an hour

JAD
7:30 AM
there's no trains for me this week. So I'm forced to work at home

@JAD strike?

JAD
@avazula construction

@JAD new railstation?

JAD
@avazula partially it's maintenance, and I think they're working on making the entire stretch 4 tracks instead of 2
they've been busy with that for the last while, and from the looks of it, they're ready to connect everything
and near where I live they have been replacing the tracks lately, so it might also be a continuation of that effort
(probably a bit of both, seeing as they're taking a week for it)

7:56 AM
Wow. I hope you like working remotely!

JAD
not really, but I'll survive
too many distractions at home

Erh. My SO feels the same way. Weirdly enough, I think I'd be less distracted at home

hah
I'd probably be the same where I live now

JAD
plus, at work there's free lunch/soda/etc
here I gotta pay for that stuff :(

lol
I bring my own orange juice
everything here is that low sugar, artificial sweetener crap

9:04 AM
That is so quiet this morning

@JourneymanGeek There was a recent study that shows that artificial sweeteners stimulate insulin production in non-diabetics despite not contributing to blood sugar, so having too much of it can result in your blood sugar becoming too low. It's great for diabetics, however, as they're incapable of insulin production and blood sugar reduction.

Welp. So I'm without a laptop for the time being :/

@Mithrandir What? How come?

It suddenly made a loud "pop" this morning, and then there was the smell of burnt circuits.
...turns out just the cord is dead - and only half of it at that - but now I have to figure out replacing it.
But it may not even be worth replacing the cord. The computer is old and slow, and it might just be time to invest in a better one.

@Mithrandir It's likely that buying a replacement cord would cost more than the current price of your computer, indeed :/
I did that a few years ago
Buying a new cord costed me 50€. The computer was, what? 5 years old?
It was so slow and old I'm pretty sure it wasn't worth 50€ haha

9:13 AM
@avazula Would have probably saved money by getting an aftermarket one with the right voltage, right size, and right polarity. A quality one costs $20-30 here in the U.S.

A new cord would cost between 150 and 200. Replacing half the cord would be 50... for an already frayed part. The computer is refurbished, bought it for 800... 4? years ago.

@gparyani Yeah well, that's exactly what I did, so ...
Too bad I'm not in the US, I guess?
7 messages moved to Trash
@Mithrandir Erh :/

Here in the U.S. we have Fry's Electronics. The best electronics store one could ask for; it carries cheap obscure electronics from all branches of electronics.
One of my latest finds there was an interesting set of rechargeable batteries:

@avazula Hey there, I have something for you :)
As it is, I kind of like doing multiple color version of the same drawing witch leaded me to do 5 differents color version of yours :P (two on paper and three on computer). And my little sister and my mother also did one too, so I thought I will share the coloring version with you all :)

The issue for me with upgrading to a new computer is that I basically become a "power user" of every computer I use, which leads to compatibility issues when it's time to upgrade.

9:23 AM
@Noon Hello you :)
@Noon Oh, now I'm very curious!
@gparyani I'm pretty sure it's the case of numerous SE users ...

I still keep every computer I use or have used, in case I need to start it up again to obtain some file or use some software that doesn't work on newer machines.

The next one is from my sister:

@Noon I love your reading list!

And this next one from my mom:

JAD
9:27 AM
@gparyani that looks like a practical joke

@avazula Thanks :D Do you know all these authors?

Tinkeringbell was singing the praises of her USB-chargeable headphones; guess what? Mine are now USB-chargeable too!

@Noon At least 4, but I'm pretty sure all those authors have been read if you consider my whole family. My aunt is a huge fan of Bottero!

Hey guys. I've decided to put in my notice, persue a new career. I won't be around much more, so I came to say goodbye and thanks.

@Belle-Sophie What happened, if you don't mind me asking?

9:31 AM
@Belle-Sophie I'll hope to see you soon then, when you have that new career on the rails? :D Good luck!

@avazula Bottero stories are so full of poetry. I was so sad when he died in a stupid road accident :'( (it's been a "long time" now but knowing that he hadn't had time to finish his story still break my heart)

Hey @Belle-Sophie I wish you all the best and hope you find what you are looking for! You are very welcome to visit us from time to time :)

@Belle-Sophie Good luck with your new career :)

@Belle-Sophie I already said everything I needed in TWC, but again, thanks for being who you are and I wish you the best :)

@Belle-Sophie Fare thee well.

9:34 AM
Thanks all! I've decided I'm going to study photography/art and work as a delivery girl to pay for tuition

@Belle-Sophie Oh, that's nice! May I ask how long you had been working in the tech industry?

@Noon I've got about 2-3 years experience, depending on how you count my part-time jobs during college ;)

@Belle-Sophie Alright, thanks for the response :)

I'm enjoying the work, but I don't think the industry is my thing.

@Belle-Sophie You're brave taking that turn. I'm happy for you.

9:39 AM
@Belle-Sophie I study computer science at college. Here, everyone talks about getting internships and jobs at big-name companies, etc etc... My interest is in education. Maybe I'll teach at some kids' program, maybe I'll become a school CS teacher, maybe I'll become a lecturer.

@Belle-Sophie Also, regarding your edit, I don't believe anyone is "too stupid to be a programmer" and if your manager made you feel like that, then they are a terrible manager (but it's okay to not feel like the industry is for you. My point is about the "stupid" part)

There's not even talk of going into research, getting a masters'...there's even a very high rate of people dropping out of honors courses into regular courses due to the allure of jobs.

I'm just glad to be leaving it behind.

@Belle-Sophie That's all that matter then :)

@Belle-Sophie Well, I hope you have a great time pursuing your passions. All of us here have your back.
This reminds me of a Hindi movie, 3 Idiots, where one of the characters is forced into an engineering college by his parents, but his passion is wildlife photography.
The most absurd point? His dad got really mad at him the term in high school when his grades slipped from A to A- (don't remember what the movie said, just the U.S. letter grade analogy) as a result of his choosing to pursue his passion that term.

9:48 AM
@Noon Yeah, my aunt was devasted as well. Haven't read much of his work myself though, I'm way more familiar to Hobb (love it) :D

@Belle-Sophie There's always the photography stack for all your homework questions! :P

...and this site if you need help with interpersonal interactions

@avazula Hobb is my favorite author \o/ I love the Fool so much <3

@Noon I get that :D
They're not my fav though. I guess I'm into older litterature 'cause I love Asimov and Bradbury (not even Fahrenheit 451, haven't read it but I read everything else from him, and I love it)

@avazula Did you read Anne McCaffrey then? I'm not a huge fan of Bradbury (I just read Fahrenheit 451 and I didn't enjoy it much) but I like Asimov

9:56 AM
@Noon Upon review of her wiki page I don't think so, no. It's more fantasy literature, right? (Yea, I didn't like F451 either, couldn't finish it. I really like his other books much more)

@avazula Yeah, it's technically science-fiction but it's much more fantasy than Sci-Fi

@Noon Erh, I much prefer SF, that may explain why I haven't read her work.

@avazula Well, nothing wrong with preferring SF :P Did you read Orson Scott Card then? (Ender)

@Noon OMG I loved that story!

I didn't love it.
Then again I think I was like 10 when I read it for the first time.

10:04 AM
@avazula Well, O. S. Card is my favorite after Robin Hobb (but I prefer Bean story than Ender)
@Mithrandir What's your favorite story?

I read it simultaneously with Dune when I was like, 14-15. I remember the feeling I had while reading them

@Noon Just in general?

@Mithrandir Yep

Oof that's a hard one.
I... don't think I can answer that :P

@avazula I read Dune because I had nothing else to read but, I must admit, I find it quite boring
@Mithrandir Well, you may put several story/author if you can't choose :P

10:07 AM
@Noon I get that. It's pretty much the same way that I think about Stephen King: great ideas, development that's slow as heck

@avazula Yep but Robin Hobb stories are also slow except that they "catch you in the gut" and, in my case, I can't put them done until I'm finished (and then I'm sad for days because I finished the story and I can't read what follow and I don't want to read anything else)

@Noon Hahaha, that's exactly why I wait for the series to be entirely published, then I read them all in a row

@Noon The Book Thief; Douglas Adams; Good Omens; the Tunnels series; Rick Riordan; the Theodore Boone series; The 39 Clues; Darcie Little Badger; Artemis Fowl; Fizz and Peppers at the Bottom of the World; Nino Cipri

@avazula Oh My! I couldn't have done that! In fact, I did bought the last book in English because I couldn't wait to read it :P

@Noon hahaha

10:15 AM
(I find picking favorites difficult.)

@Mithrandir Oh, I love Artemis Fowl! And the story of Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan too (but I feel like the other books are kind of getting repetitive). "The Book Thief" is absolutely beautiful

@Noon Actually, I found that the RR books got better individually as they went on. Magnus Chase was much better than Percy Jackson and the Olympians, for instance.
(Not least because of Alex Fierro.)

@Mithrandir I didn't read Magnus Chase but I wasn't convinced by the one with the Egyptian Gods. The last one about Apollon is nice but it didn't had the same impact on me than the first Percy Jackson (maybe because I'm older?)

Yeah. As you get older they start to lose their appeal.

It's kind of sad, especially since it has become more and more harder to find books I really like :/

1 hour later…
11:36 AM
@Noon Do you know Pierre Grimbert?
@Noon Bordage and Grimbert are my two Pierre authors favs :p

@avazula I have tried to read "Le secret de Ji" but it did not "click" and I'm not sure I even finish the first chapter. For Bordage, I know I have read at least one of his books ("Ceux qui sauront") but I'm not really into it (it was a long time ago though)

@Noon I get that. It's weird how our reading tastes evolve throughout the years :p
I haven't read much fictional literature lately (more tech and personal development books) but latest I've read, it was pure romance novels. I never enjoyed them yet I found an incredible author and I read all her books in 3 days haha
@Noon You asked Mith earlier but what are your personal favs?
4 messages moved to Trash

11:53 AM
@avazula Sometimes it's weird how you like certain books from a genre you usually dislike. Like, I enjoy a lot of the "Arsène Lupin" (particularly the one "against Herlock Sholmes") but don't like reading Sherlock Holmes (but loves watching the TV shows and movies) and don't like reading police stuff in general (but enjoy police TV show).

@Noon "if I watch I don't read, if I read I don't watch" I get that haha, this is a mantra for me not to watch a movie " " " based on the books " " "

@avazula Well, I think my drawing summarizes it quite well but here is the list: Robin Hobb, Orson Scott Card, "Matthieu Hidalf" by Christophe Mauri (so much laugh), "Comment (bien) rater ses vacances" by Anne Percin (again, so much fun) and then, well a lot of books

@Noon So, SF and laugh. What a great mix :D

@avazula It's not even that (I have read and watch Harry Potter countless time), it's just that police TV shows and police books really aren't the same IMO. Police book are way colder when police TV shows are much more human which explain why I like them more
@avazula More Fantasy and laugh with a bit of SF

@Noon I agree. I kinda like horror books but would never watch a movie, so it's quite the opposite for me.

12:02 PM
@avazula Well, I would never read nor watch a horror book/movie (I did it once for both, it was enough for me :P ) But what makes them different to you?

@Noon Well, I don't really know how to explain. For instance, I love the Silence of the Lambs book. I think it's because I can't handle the suspense that is in the movies, whereas while reading a book, I can picture the only things that I want to, I guess. When I'm reading a book I still have a grab on reality while even if I stop watching the movie I'll still have sounds, shouts and stuff

@avazula So, movies are scarier?

IMO the main diff is that in films they always try to scare you with unexpected stuff. In books it's about the situation itself

@Cashbee maybe that explains it, indeed
@Noon to me, yes

also in books, they can get the feelings of the protagonists across better
which makes so much a difference, especially in that genre

12:08 PM
never thought of it that way but it makes sense :)

@Cashbee Yeah, I tend to think that the scariest thing in horror movies is the music when, in the horror book I remember reading, it was really about the whole situation

12:20 PM
exactly. let me make an example of me walking through the local cemetry at night.
> In my books, I'd describe how anxious i was, peeking into the darkness of the nearby forest, imagining leaves rustling everywhere. Only after the path turned and led away from the forest I was able to breath properly again, my frayed nerves able to relax.
> Whereas in my films, I walk by there, the music makes a crescendo with those awful high-pitched violin strokes, and at it's peak the scary face of a zombie takes up the screen with a scream. Next shot you see how it was only the bark of a tree or something.
i got sidetracked a little xD

Well I like how you got sidetracked :P
Talking about books and police books made me remember of this book "Wilt" by Tom Sharpe, where the all situation is just a big misunderstanding with everything being so absurd that it's funny. It's one of my big sister books and I will probably read it again now :P
Anyone here know how much question we usually get on Mondays?

12:37 PM
@Noon let me check

ooof, our questions per day ration has dropped massively since i last looked :'(

@Cash would you mind checking if my SQL is right?

3.8
@avazula sure

@Cashbee good Lorde that's few :/
@Cashbee Thanks dear

@avazula thats only for today, not monday. i think

12:48 PM
@avazula What format am I suppose to use for "Today"?

@Cashbee Yep, I didn't know how to check whether that day was a monday so I just asked for the user to put the date in YYYY-MM-DD format (<- @Noon)

i don't think you can find that out via data explorer

I don't think either

well you can, if you write your own date-to-weekday resolver in native sql
have fun xD

@Cashbee nope nope nope

12:54 PM
@avazula I'm probably doing something wrong because when I put "2018-10-18", I get "0" :/

@Noon I think it's the query that's wrong because I also get that result

@avazula Alright then, don't worry, I can try to write one on my own :)

@Noon I'm sorry, I don't understand what's wrong :/

@avazula It's okay, I'm not bad in SQL so I can try to figure that out :)

@Noon Please let me know what I did wrong :) because I don't understand

12:59 PM
26
A: MySQL compare DATE string with string from DATETIME field

XL_If you want to select all rows where the DATE part of a DATETIME column matches a certain literal, you cannot do it like so: WHERE startTime = '2010-04-29' because MySQL cannot compare a DATE and a DATETIME directly. What MySQL does, it extends the given DATE literal with the time '00:00:00'. ...

I also found that, I thought it'd be interesting:

how to save SEDE query?

@Cashbee what?

ah
see updated query that runs
also, you needed to put posttypeid = 1
to only show questions, not answers

OMG I'm so stupid for the datetime issue
the posttypeid I don't get it?

1:04 PM
If you don't put posttypeid = 1, you are counting questions and answers

oh right, because post either means q or a

jup

jup?

@avazula lol nice
@Noon oh sry was not paying attention (yay international chats). "yupp"
/ yep
/ yes

Oh, right ^^

1:07 PM
pas le jupe

Do you mean "la jupe"? :P

>.<
maybe

Because, for me, "le jupe" refer to this:
:P

hahaha just last break i was asked for directions by a french guy. I heard his accent and told him where to go in my broken french.
havent practiced it for too long :(

Well you need to come visit us then :P

1:13 PM
@Noon oh no not him haha
@Cashbee is Alemannisch your main language?

@avazula Well, it's not my fault if his name looks like "jupe" XD

@Noon :p

@Noon I had plans to do so in the next summer, with gf's family. Plans were changed very recetnly, now we're going to the netherlands

@Cashbee Good plans :D

@avazula ja
@Tinkeringbell hehe

1:16 PM
@Cashbee Huh, so you'll drink worse wine then? :p (no offense @Tink)

@avazula yes but I'll smoke better ( Í¡° ͜ʖ Í¡°)

@avazula Legend has it there's Dutch wine. I've yet to find evidence :P

funny though, gf's family is all about wine

@Tinkeringbell hahaha

my girlfriend is called Syrah
hahaha nah jk

1:19 PM
@Cashbee it's been a while since you two got together, isn't it?
@Cashbee lol

@avazula We're approaching a year

@Cashbee Dang it, time flies ...

I say let it fly
better time goes fast and you're having a blast, than time goes slow and you're miserable

:)
Completely off topic but I tried something fun today
I turned my phone screen black and white. It's said it could help in reducing screen addiction (which I don't think I have, but still), and the idea caught my attention. Now let me say, it's really weird

haha

1:25 PM
Do you have a capture screen to show us?

@avazula my phone's screen is black and white because it supposedly makes the battery last longer and my phone is a 3 year old piece of crap

my coworker had his desktop monitor suddenly turn into darkroom-mode (only red tones). Apparently it's a feature of some screenlight adapter thingy (try press ctrl-alt-end. nothing happens if this program is not installed)

Huh, weird but logical, if I screenshot and send it to you you'll see it in colors. i'm so dumb xD

hihi

Anyway, you had the chance to see my beautiful Stitch wallpaper xD
@Magisch That's funny, 'cause it drains battery even more on newer devices
But I can see how turning B&W makes you want to look less often

1:30 PM
Beat it with a hammer. You will find out that your urge to look at it constantly will fade over time.
works every time

If you want to know how much question we usually have on monday, here is the place to look: data.stackexchange.com/interpersonal/query/914705/…
(but today isn't in it yet)

@Noon Dang it girl, you're amazing

interesting indenting style
Questions per day on IPS on a monthly basis: data.stackexchange.com/interpersonal/query/859682/…

@avazula Thank you :D (I like SQL, and I had already done something similar so it was easier this time :) )

cast as date.. that's what i was missing to get there

@Magisch How do you indent?

@Noon Magisch: "what's indenting?"

@Noon not very well, as you can see from the 2 I just posted :p
"interesting" wasn't meant as a diminuitive, btw

@Cashbee The cast thing was from here: stackoverflow.com/questions/7417017

@avazula indenting means putting some codelines more to the right than others

1:36 PM
@Magisch XD

@Cashbee I know. That was a joke because @Magisch seems to like to align all lines :p

yeah i realized.. wasn't reading up :(

hehe
Good Lorde, my SO just sent me a 9gag post about our president. It's very funny but I'm afraid it'd seem politically incorrect so I hesitate to share it in here

the worse crime against humanity here is that it's 9gag

@Magisch haha

1:38 PM
so true

I'm the only other French here, I say go ahead (promise I won't start a debate) :P

@Noon huh, let's do it, it's not mean anyway :)
^ better than a plain link

So true XD
(I don't like when the timeline doesn't aline :P )

@avazula Why did I think there was something about an American president incoming? XD

@Tinkeringbell haha, it could have, but I said "our president" and I'm no American :p

1:41 PM
isnt he the president of all our hearts?

@avazula And I full well know that, so that's what confused me :D

@Tinkeringbell hehe :p
I went to the same high school as him

who now

I was very close to have his wife teaching me French

@avazula Oh My!

1:42 PM
@Cashbee Macron
@Noon Hehe, yeah, I used to live in Amiens. Brigitte (his wife) is from a very famous family of bakers from there and Macron is from Amiens so, they're really proud of them :p

@Tinkeringbell French people also have the right to have a president they dislike (to not say something else) :P

The Trogneux (Brigitte's original name) make very good cookies

@Noon :P We only get a prime minister to dislike, and royals :P

@Tinkeringbell So you are luckier than us :P
@avazula This is so weird "your president stepparent make very good cookies"

[PS: This just has been shared on the Water Cooler, I don't want to relaunch the debate but I thought you guys might wanna read it so, please don't get my intentions wrong here: medium.com/@cellio/… ]
@Noon That's about the nicest thing I could say about our presidential family... I won't engage in a debate here for it's not the place to do it, but let's say that politics gather about 90% of my overall anger :p

1:48 PM
@avazula Well, it won't be much of a debate if I agree with you anyway :P

hehe
But I insist that the cookies are good

Well, I have nothing against the presidential family, just against the presidential decisions. So I have no reason to doubt that they made good cookies ^^

:p
