Does anyone know what filter I can use to make the filenames of uploaded files all lowercase? WordPress adds dashes, but preserves the casing

@bungeshea sanitize_file_name

I don't think that function makes chars lowercase. And how do I apply it?
Oh wait … the uploader uses that function
So I just filter it and… sure, thanks!

add_filter( 'sanitize_file_name', 'mb_strtolower' );

having trouble with Custom Post Type Reorder plugin - anyone have alternative recommendation?

what exactly does that plugin do?

actually we had it setup wrong. associate had put 'orderby' => 'desc' and 'order' => 'menu_order'
transposed. it creates, per post type, the ability to jquery-reorder via drag and drop, your posts. you can have this automatically be applied to each wp_query, or manually use that ordering by "menu_order" as the orderby. works pretty well
i like the latter option as you can still use name, date, etc for most queries, but use the "only the client understands this order" order in other cases.

1 hour later…
3:41 PM

I am as excited about it as about core trac

I never knew .org ran jobs.wordpress.net

4:19 PM
anybody know if i can get the images from the theme unit text XML file, another way than importing the media? they failed to import. I am on MAMP and suspect that is reason...

what do you mean another way?..

like download them

look up links in XML and download?..

oh @rarst that would be so easy... doh!

5:21 PM

Anyone know off the top of their heads who the 'current user' is during a cron-job? Is it the user who triggered the cron job (if they are a user) or is always considered to be "logged out" during cron callbacks...?

there is no user during cron

@Rarst Cheers :)

@all what is good practice for outputting (in a plugin) user-selected options as css? for example, a user-supplied css color

@GhostToast is this to customise a theme? So you want the css to be printed in the head?

@StephenHarris i am writing plugin that displays a simple box with info explaining the current screen-size basically. for development. it's just using media queries to declare what "stage" its in. i may eventually allow the user to choose those stages. at the very least i'd like them to have control over which corner it shows up in so its not in the way (is absolutely positioned)
1, 2, 3, 4. but if i have an options page that, for example, lets the user choose color of the little box. what is best way to get that into the CSS? i guess modify my html output with in-line style?

@StephenHarris thanks that looks like a great place to start. gotta run

Think I've seen other themes use wp_head too.. which would be kind of the 'manual' approach to that function.
