year I am stepping down. I am not sure if it is permanent or whether I will come back. But for now November will be the last one I will run.

@Willeke I cannot do December, sorry :( I am happy to put my hand up for January though. I would need a bit of an overview as to what I need to do though :D I'm sure there's more to it than I think
I always copied an older competition question and adjusted the theme, month and sometimes the rules. The only other thing you need to do is to accept the most voted question after the end of the month. (And if you are not around at midnight UTC, a mod can help you find who was most upvoted at midnight.)
The theme for the December photo competition is "Winter or near winter public holidays". I'm looking for photos that depict a public celebration of a holiday that is celebrated either during the winter season proper, or in the 6-8 weeks leading up to the winter season.

@Willeke Winter season refers to winter, not the month. Other than the fact that it was the December competition, I made no mention of specific times of year. South of the Equator, photos during the Northern summer months are what I'm expecting.
