@GayotFow, do you by now know whether we can meet on Sunday?

Should we have audits in review? I would like to bring this topic up again as recently I saw a bunch of questions closed and close-voted as duplicates of questions that did not answer the original Q. meta.travel.stackexchange.com/questions/1550/… (this meta post however was mostly concerned about users voting always to leave open whereas I find some are close-voting too quickly)

Hello everyone!

Hi @rath

11:43 AM
:D I crossed the 10k barrier :D

@mts Some users apparently just don't care, because "Being less restrictive with close votes is even worse"
But what can we do? The guy just won't quit, he does not take the time to read, close things as duplicates that obviously aren't but is otherwise a reasonable and helpful contributor.
He wasnt convinced by long explanations and nice reasonable discussions, he did not respond to harsher criticism, I don't see him getting a ban over this, what else?

Maybe a ban is needed, but at this time I do not see it as needed.

12:35 PM
@mts At this point, raising the problem again is a reason to continue from his point view because "There have been many discussions on meta", same old, same old

@Relaxed I didn't follow that discussion yesterday, thanks for pointing out and I fully agree with you. Mods can cast temporary bans on voting but I haven't seen them very active recently :/ (in general, not specific to this issue)
I do believe however there is more than one user inappropriately casting close-votes

@Relaxed doesn't seem to be very Relaxed ;)
anyway, I reread your arguments and I apologize
you have a point

@Willeke He is at the Navy base now and I have a call in to the CO, will hopefully know in a few hours. And congrats on the 10k hurdle! Major achievement!
@JonathanReez Nobody likes it when they compose a question and it gets marked as a dup when the canonical is not their exact question about their personal circumstances. But there are questions where differing personal circumstances don't matter.
And there was the whacko in here about 3 weeks ago who objected to the hammer -- even though it answered his question. No, he objected because somehow dups go against his behaviour record in the system. He totally lost the perspective about getting an answer.
As pointed out before there are about 15,000 ways to ask the same Schengen question because personal circumstances do not enter in to it.
E.g., a girl who is going to overstay in France is the same as a boy who is going to overstay in Italy. And it's the same as an undisclosed gender who is going to overstay in Spain who has a sick relative.

@GayotFow @JonathanReez I think the dupe argument was never about the visa questions, I read the Q of the dupe-hammered guy and agree with you @GayotFow and I agree with @JonathanReez that we get a lot of stupid/duplicate Qs (and I personally dupe-vote and flag lots of those) however I feel sad for those actually good questions that get closed accidentally and I suggest we should give ourselves a second more to read each Q before close-voting and skip a Q if we are not sure.
Particular @GayotFow I think you stand as an example in being careful about using your close-voting privileges, respects!

@mts You're very kind; and don't forget that last week we had a whacko who created 3 accounts for the same question because he couldn't come to terms with it. And remember that lots of those guys have wallpapered the net with their question. You can see them pop up over here immigrationboards.com/general-uk-immigration-forum
It's just old whackos feeding new whackos old internet lore :)
American women like to use this one talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?board=17.20
But many of them are my friends on FB so sometimes I refer from here to over there :)
