And it would be incredibly disturbing if she told the same one, no?

Then I'd just have to presume that she was being impersonated, or coerced. ;P

I had my own babies. One is now 48 (nearly birthday time-49th) and his sister is 50. I have a teen-age grandson. All three are very interesting folk. Not geeky, tho.
Off to see the sandman. I hope @BenI. and his family can do likewise.

1:02 AM
Wow, I've deleted 100 comments in the last month. That's the power of HNQs :)

Power and curse.

Yeah. To add to the previous discussion of comment deletion, that's the ammount of stuff that is deleted totally silently. Y'all have no way to review what I deleted. Which is why I think it's especially important to err on the side of caution.

We, as other users don't. Other mods, and SE do.

That's true. I just need to write that meta post...

I, for one, appreciate the position you're in, while trusting you to handle what needs doing with the proper temperament.

1:25 AM
I just posted the meta. I'm sure the bot will get it by tomorrow.

@GypsySpellweaver Thanks for the edit. Linking all those comments was a pain in the butt.

I can imagine

Anyways, hopefully there will be policy created and then all those comments will go away. But we'll see what happens.
I'm going go call it a night though, and check back in in the morning.

I've developed a different way to handle large sets of links that's less confusing to me.

Q: What should we do about answers in the comments?

thesecretmaster"Answer in comments": A comment which is a very short attempt to answer the question or solve the problem. Answers in comments are a very common phenomenon on this site. Some questions have one while others have three and still others have 7 answers in comments (and 4 more deleted). This is not ...

@CSEducatorsMeta One hour and twenty-two minutes later. Welcome to the party, meta-feed.

3:09 AM
Ah, Meta's a good netizen. But Meta really likes to take long naps.

3:33 AM
@BenI. Rumpelstiltskin took a long nap once as well.
On the other hand, naps might be all you get for a while.
And, long probably won't be in their description either.
Oops, wrong tale. Rip Van Winkle's the name

Rumpelstiltskin created balesful of gold for a simple necklace. Odd bargain.

5:52 AM
@BenI. Never heard that version.
Wait. Yes I have. That was only the first night.
The devious imp was just priming the pump for the big prize at the end.

@BenI. Time to wake up. Your daughter needs changing, holding, hugging, feeding, burping, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Your spouse needs some of those things also.
@thesecretmaster, I know you are carrying the load now for mods and it might be getting heavy. However, there are a few questions/answers that have disconnected comment streams. I usually remove comments of mine when they become moot, but often it is a reply to another, who hasn't also removed theirs.
This leaves for a disjointed stream, as one commenter noted. Do you want a heads up here on things that should be cleaned up? It will increase your burden, of course.
Or is a simple flag enough to get one of you to look at it, even when it isn't offensive...?

Yeah, if I see a flag I'll check out the whole chain.
Because normally the value of the comment depends on the context anyways.
@Buffy Yeah, if you've done that, a "no longer needed" flag would be super helpful.
Then myself or another mod will take a look and delete the other half of the conversation.

Ok Flagging it is. I just noticed the "not needed flag". I'd only used the offensive one previously, I think. I see that @OnorioCatenacci and I cleaned up after ourselves, at least :)
Anyway, thanks for your solo performance as mod recently.

1:10 PM
@thesecretmaster. another question about deletions of comments. If a mod deletes a comment, can the poster still see it? If it contains an answer, he/she might want to grab the text for a proper answer. I'm pretty sure it is visible to them, but don't have an example to confirm it.

@Buffy Nope, once it's been deleted it's gone.
Mods can check for deleted comments, but nobody else can.

So, if someone had that happen, they could appeal here, I guess, to recover the text.

Yeah, or on meta.

A lot of people don't use, or even know about, meta, tho. The regulars, at least, have a path.

1:32 PM
People can also flag comments and request that a different mod review the deletions.

@thesecretmaster You just said they were gone gone gone.

Yeah, but they can flag other comments or the question for mod atten and leave a message

2:07 PM
I really do need to create an answer, rather than scattered comments, to the question about answers in comments. :D

2:41 PM
E-gads! I can't even write short "comments"

2:54 PM
@GypsySpellweaver LOL
