Helbent IVVeteran character actor Richard Herd passed away in May at the age of 87. He played a wide range of roles both in and out of the sci-fi genre. Some of his more memorable science fiction performances included the Visitor "John" in V, and Admiral Owen Paris in the Trek universe. Perhaps his be...

Q: In The Realm Of Vampires Wouldn't It Make More Sense If The Fangs Acted As Straws Instead of Simple Puncture Devices

VinmannFrom a rejuvenation point of view it is much more efficient if the blood of the victim were assimilated into the blood supply of the Vampire, acting as a blood or plasma transfusion functions for the normal human. In that instance fangs that function as straws that draw blood directly into the bl...

Q: Do the rank and file nuns have any supernatural abilities?

AdamantAmong the warrior nuns in the eponymous series, the bearer of the Halo explicitly has supernatural abilities, including, so far as I can tell, durability, strength, intangibility, rapid healing, and other abilities depending on the particular bearer. That said, the other nuns have demonstrated so...

Q: Why do Ava and the others at the orphanage speak English?

AdamantAlthough much of the first season of Warrior Nun is set in Spain, most people of the dialogue is in English. Now, this makes sense to a certain extent. The titular nuns themselves are an international group, and since English is the de facto international language in many contexts, it makes sense...

Q: A movie where thorns sting a woman's feet while trying to infiltrate some base

pigwidgeonso this was a movie I watched in the 2000's or early 2010's but it might be made before. It is not very new. And I don't remember much about it, only images pop into my head. I know the leading role is a woman (I think she had black hair). And this woman has some robot-like behaviors (I don't thi...

Q: What is the Oracle's purpose, specifically regarding her "to unbalance them" comment?

NathanSIn this Q&A: What or who were the Oracle and the Architect?, we find out what the Oracle is; "an intuitive program, initially created to investigate certain aspects of the human psyche" (says the Architect). It also appears to be the case that she took the Merovingian's place, so presumably she n...

Q: Are Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight married in the MCU?

TheLethalCarrotIn the comics, Earth-616, Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight are a married couple. We see them together in Avengers: Infinity War, going on the mission to get the Mind Stone together and working in tandem in the Battle of Wakanda. They also seem to care for each other but as Children of Thanos th...

Answered this one but interested to see what others think about the Surtur skull shape (Thor: Ragnarok spoilers)

A: What was Surtur's ultimate fate?

TheLethalCarrotThere's no concrete evidence on this either way that I can find. However, in the beginning when Surtur has Thor imprisoned he states the following: Surtur: I cannot die. Not until I fulfill my destiny and lay waste to your home. Thor: Ragnarok Considering this it is likely he is now "eligible f...

I've had mixed reviews from the few people I've asked so far but generally in the maybe to yes range, no outright nos

I reopened the discussion about a custom close reason for future works. cc @Null who wrote the last proposal and @TheLethalCarrot whose meta to-do list helped get this off the ground.
I've kept the meta question neutral, but my personal opinion is to abolish the bog-standard "not about SFF" close reason and replace it with a FWP close reason. But other people might be more attached to the "not about SFF" one.

Q: Do we want a custom close reason for the Future Works Policy? Revisited

Rand al'ThorBackground This site has a long-standing policy that questions about future works should be closed: if a question is asking specifically about a book/film/episode/comic/etc. that has not yet been released, the question should be closed at least until the release date, to prevent purely speculativ...

@Randal'Thor the more I’ve thought about it a custom FWP would be good for now

Does this replace "not SFF?" If so, what do we use to close some of the random non-topical identification questions we get?

The free text reason
if we end up replacing it anyway
