"open it up to a random page" doesn't match, because Bastian just reads it in sequence, but still
I should try to write an answer, but I don't want to spend much time composing it for such a question.

@Stormblessed Now you just need to get another 396,587 more reputation.

@Alex what?

@Stormblessed Then you'll be Valorum.

...I'd advise against trying too hard to be Valorum, though... ;)

Is there a badge for having a certain number of comment upvotes?

There's a badge for leaving 10 comments that each get 5 upvotes, yes.

@Mithrandir I searched and didn’t see it in badges

You should rather refer to the Badges page if you're willing to catch 'em all ;)

Apparently Stellar Question and Illuminator are the rarest badges in these parts.

Those and some unique tag badges

Eh, I wasn't counting tag badges.
You'll probably get Illuminator eventually.
Have you ever answered a question without editing the question?

Synonymizer is pretty rare too, for a bronze badge
@Alex yep, latest one was yours :)

A: Apart from Azula, has there ever been a Fire Bender with Blue Fire?

JenayahThe accepted answer states that no other human was shown producing blue fire. While true for the show, in the first issue of the Smoke and Shadow comic (2015), Zuko briefly uses a technique similar to "dragon firebending", which includes some blue streaks.

@Alex all this stuff you answered and you didn't find much to polish in the questions?

@Jenayah Sometimes I did find stuff but forgot about it by the time I posted my answer.

Ouch

@Jenayah Is that really blue?

It's the same kind of blue than in the accepted answer

4:37 PM
Let me read the accepted answer then.

(because it's technically the same technique, just that in the accepted answer it's a dragon who uses it and in mine it's a human)

@Stormblessed Your own?

You're Welcome.
Eh, I actually have 8 deleted posts.
And each one for a different reason.

@Alex gotta catch 'em all? :)

1. The question I answered was deleted.
2. I answered a different question then was asked (self-deleted)
3. I converted my answer to a comment.
4. I merged my answer into my other answer.
5. The question was changed after my answer was posted (self-deleted).
6. I missed the part of the question that excluded my answer.
7. I misread the source that I used for my answer.

Q: What anime is this

Quincy NwaforI saw this anime at the display tv at shop rite Just want to know what anime this is

"Anime with a girl and a guy talking" ?

@Jenayah Anime in which someone says "If you are going to space so will I"

@Alex Anime in which someone says "If you are going to space so will I" when being in a room with a jar

Is that what that thing is?

6:11 PM
it looks like a jar
No wait, I've got a better one
Anime in which someone says "If you are going to space so will I" when being in a room with a jar; character has spiky hair
that should trim it down to a couple thousand or so

I'm not 100% sure if we're viewing them through a window, or if that thing on the left is some sort of door external to the TV screen.

@Jenayah I thought it looked like this:
Shoot, that was supposed to be upside down.
There we go.
@Jenayah And a pink outfit.

6:37 PM
@Jenayah I added your title to my edit with a sparse description of the scene and dialogue.

@Jenayah Why can you edit deleted things? Seems pointless

You can undelete them.

@FuzzyBoots alright
@Stormblessed if an answer was deleted when it did contain useful info, you can edit it a bit and vote to undelete it
it's what was happening with a recent story-id answer which seemed like a good guess but it was a one-liner

What's a "pink outlet"?
Or is that a typo?

This answer, to be precise:

A: Black and white movie where man lands on Earth, is chased, and gets shot in the leg

Yuval HarpazThe Day the Earth Stood Still seems to fit, although this does not look like a leg injury. A humanoid arrives and scares guards by a sudden move with a device.

if you look at its revision history scifi.stackexchange.com/posts/203085/revisions you'll see it was improved while in deleted state
@RDFozz the jar thing?
wait, wrong left. The girl?

6:48 PM
@Jenayah Yeah the wooden "wall" with a window, where we see the girl and the guy, covering most of the left half of the screen. I think it's part of the video, but I can't see well enough to be sure.

there are black parts on the sides
so I think the image is a whole

@Jenayah You're right!

@Jenayah It's an anime where a character has spiky hair.
@Stormblessed To improve a post before you undelete it.

@b_jonas don't they all

I have several answers self-deleted because someone quickly posted a better answer, usually before I posted mine. I have at least one answer self-deleted where I totally misunderstood the Harry Potter books in a significant way, making my answer wrong. I have multiple questions on meta sites vacuumed.

7:06 PM
@b_jonas You posted an answer after a better answer without seeing the better answer?

@Alex Yes.
Or sometimes shortly before the better answer.

But was there something specifically wrong with your answer? Or was it just not as good?

I've got a deleted answer because I read the question's wording wrong (although it was ambiguous), and I suspect my Animosity question will get Roombaed at some point scifi.stackexchange.com/q/198315/98028

If the latter, I don't think that warrants deletion.

@Alex Just not as good.
@Alex It really depends.
Apparently I reposted essentially the same question in a new post, and at that time it didn't get closed.

7:09 PM
@Jenayah It has a positive score.

@Alex ooooh that's new :P
(thank you, I guess?)

Votes are anonymous.

let's just say that for a question which has gathered 32 views in two months, it having an upvote once I link it in chat is a bit of coincidence

It's not a coincidence. Linking in chat gives it visibility.

I was being ironic
my point was that surely the UV came from one of the people in this room

@Jenayah Indeed, surely it did.

You can't use the image uploader in a reply message?

@Alex Seems like the uploaded image gets posted without the reply data, using the tool; you can edit it back in (within the usual chat edit window).

@RDFozz But you can't do it without editing.

(Based entirely on manual experimentation just now).
@Alex Correct - the image I posted above started as a reply to your question, but once uploaded showed up without the reply arrow pointing back to your post.

Oh, never mind, I figured out what happened.

Yes?

11:41 PM
If you're replying to yourself, you can't even select the upload image button.
If you're replying to someone else, you can select it and then edit.

Desktop or mobile (I'm on desktop).

Desktop.

I'm only able to reply to myself by manually copying in the message number from the permalink - I don't get any of the usual "report/star/reply" icons on my own messages.

Testing now

11:46 PM
The first image is replying to myself and you can see the button is greyed out.

I can't upload after adding any text

Yep, I get the same behavior. Like I said, it's just more of a pain, since I have to manually enter the message number to reply to myself.

The second image is replying to you and the button is clickable.

Shouldn't there be a way to merge duplicates?

@Stormblessed There is.

11:47 PM
There are so many about they make it hard to find non-duplicates

@RDFozz Brin's is actually the best of the three. Pity it's the third of a series, but they aren't really that much of prerequisites of each other. And yes, Benford's is boring to me as well.
@RDFozz Luckily, you can totally answer that question from only reading Brin's Foundation’s Triumph. Or even just glancing at asimovreviews.net/NonAsimov/Brin.html .

@Stormblessed I would expect that merging duplicates is rarely done because different people have submitted them, usually with different wording (and perhaps have earned rep from them already). Whose wording do you keep? who keeps their rep? Do all answers come across to the merged question?

Q: Can a Muggle accidentally create a horcrux-like object?

Misha RI think that we have it well-established (regardless of whether or not one sees this as flawed logic) that Harry is not a horcrux. A horcrux has to be made intentionally, the recipient is then classified as an "evil object," etc. Neither of which is true for Harry - so, as stated by JKR herself...

@RDFozz If the same person has inadvertently submitted the identical question twice, then it might make sense.

@RDFozz Yes, but when questions are merged, they can result in such fun things as scifi.stackexchange.com/a/10508/4918 a question answered years before the question was posted.
@RDFozz Nah, if it's identical, then there's usually no point to merge. Just delete one quickly.
