This opens a whole new world of puns about burning

@Jenayah And once again Science Fiction & Fantasy has the best explanation of any of the sites with a (that I participate in).

@Alex it's meh, compared to the one of
But throw in the others, I like the guessing game

@Jenayah True, but:
Water is a colourless, transparent, odourless, liquid comprised primarily of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
Beats:
1) Nothing
2) Nothing
3) Water strictly refers to the liquid state of that substance; it can be used for washing, soaking, boiling, steaming, simmering, diluting, etc. Ask questions about using water in a recipe.
Well the third one's close, actually.

@Alex 1) is cheating :(

But I guess "water" is self-explanatory?

12:19 AM
2) is cheating :(

But then again, I would have thought "food" is also self-explanatory.
You can still try to guess the sites, though.

@Alex ... either Mi Yodeya or Seasoned Advice? You're not on Seasoned Advice though are you?

@Jenayah Seasoned Advice it is.
I have one post there:
1
A: How do kosher food preparation requirements compare with what is known by modern science to make food safe for eating?

AlexThe great Jewish thinker Maimonides argued that (basically) all the laws of forbidden foods exist for health/scientific/safety reasons, and he laid out the connections. In Guide for the Perplexed 3:48 he writes the following: I maintain that the food which is forbidden by the Law is unwholeso...

Which essentially could have been a Mi Yodeya post.

I thought you weren't :)

@Jenayah Well, one could argue that one post doesn't really count.
Which would then knock me out of History as well.
And English Language & Usage.
Which only leaves me with seven sites with more than one post.

Q: Can Warhammer Fantasty vampires gain sustenance when feeding on Greenskins?

YasskierIn the Warhammer Fantasty, just like in the WH40k Greenskins (orcs, goblins, snotlings and squiggs) are, well... fungi. Sort of: The Runt pulled himself up out of the hole. A huge mushroom stood above his birthing-hole, wilting and black now it had served its purpose. The goblin lay on his ba...

depends on the post I guess

@Jenayah What are the criteria?

@Alex primarily opinion-based

@Jenayah And has that ever stopped anyone from giving theiir opinion?

@Alex when it's closed, yes

12:39 AM
@Jenayah Well, in that case it's the closure that prevents giving their opinion.

means to an end

Indeed. But then again, this is Chat, where everything is primarily-opinion-based.

@Alex I disagree with the premise of chat being exclusively primarily-opinion-based. Purely for the sake of twisting your pedant mind :)

@Jenayah Well, my pedant mind loves being twisted, and says "thank you".

you're welcome

My pedant mind also wonders why only like 1/3 pings actually ping me.

Q: What is this Harry Potter Fan Fiction about Sirius Black having a daughter?

Brittany beachThere's a story on Qoutov abut Sirius Black having a daughter and her uncle is lucius malfoy because her mother was lucius sister. Can anybody tell me the name of it I have be looking for about two weeks and I can't find it

12:59 AM
Please tell me that one day Lucius gets angry at the sister and yells: "Are you f****** serious?!?" and she just nods. — Möoz 1 min ago
AHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Why can't I bounty a comment

@Jenayah Nothing stops you from giving a bounty to an answer in honor of the comment.
In fact, someone did something like that to me once.

Q: How much do Muggle parents like Hermione’s actually know about Hogwarts?

WesWThis is left vague in the books, but I can’t imagine parents sending their children off to a school they know nothing about. Do you think they’re well-informed, or told just a bare minimum, or are they outright lied to?

Though I don't think I can prove it; the comment doesn't seem to exist anymore.

1:27 AM
@Alex not a valid bounty reason, though
Nov 1 at 16:58, by Jenayah
And before anyone comes in to snark on web history, each time I look for HP fanfic-id (which is to say, once every three months), I use incognito browsing.
Hmpf. I'll have IDed two HP fanfics in the span of one month, so this figure isn't really accurate anymore.
(although the most recent one is quite terse so not 100% sure)

@Jenayah I think it was kind of subsumed under "reward existing answer".

eh
whatever works

In my case it was a little different, though, because the guy wanted to reward me for my answers in general, not for comments.

well then they only had to find the answer of yours they liked the most and set up a bounty
it's releveant

2:00 AM
@Jenayah True, but I think you could still get away with it.
Speaking of random tags:

Geez

And I don't think those have parallels on my other sites.

Eh I guess is okay if it's movie trick or stuff

Ha, both Science Fiction & Fantasy have but they are two completely different things.
@Alex Whoops, that should say: "both Science Fiction & Fantasy and Mi Yodeya have"

Q: Are there examples of symbiotic organisms (like Venom) outside of Marvel comics?

LShaverI've been fascinated by Venom since I was a kid, and for years have been drafting short stories inspired by this type of character -- a sentient "infection" that can impart both power and weakness to the host. Q: Older children's sci-fi novel, 80s/90s, maybe part of a series

Alyx SliverI've been trying to find a book from my past. It's a science fiction and maybe horror book for kids written in either the 80s or 90s. JahanpanahHopefully I'm not violating any rules here. A few years ago while going through the posts on a writing forum I came across something that made me curious about the book. The person there had written this I bought a science fiction novel a few years ago (before 2007) which was one of Asia's be...

It's an explicit work, but we don't disallow those.
It's not too broad, either.
Besides the unique description, we also know a genre (science fiction), a location, however vague (Asia) and the fact that it was a very popular book.

^ ditto

There shouldn't be more than one book that fits this description.
Although there may be less than one....
Because people sometimes make up things on Reddit.

@Adamant the problem is that it's not a book the OP has read. We don't disallow these explicitly, but they are problematic.

While I agree that this one is pretty specific, generally speaking it's difficult for an OP to know that it's the work they read/heard about.

DavidSI just caught up with season 3 of Daredevil, which follows Matt during a rather dark time in his life. @Jenayah you were right, Batman story is better in rebirth
But again a unwanted death with don't stay dead for much time

Eh death in comics doesn't exist

@Jenayah Thomas and Martha Wayne, Uncle Ben, Marvel's first Thunderbird, all of these characters have stayed dead (pretty much, ignoring alternate realities, twisted current realities, etc.)
^^ Of course, Bucky Barnes used to anchor the list, so, no promises.

@RDFozz you know what I mean :)

Yeah - I remember when Joe Quesada said, for Marvel, "Dead is dead." That didn't last too long.

@RDFozz Papa superman was in the list too I guess
And watchmen was one offf thing but now Comedian is back I guess

6:46 PM
Jor-el?
Yeah, probably - a little less clear, though.
One of the key loopholes is the "no body" clause - if there's no body, then you can always bring them back and claim they were never dead.
DC, of course, decided to build a story around the revolving door to the afterworld in Blackest Night. The X-Men have also reached a point where returns from death aren't particularly shocking, even when there is a body.
