@DavidW surprisingly similar

I don't normally go out a lot, but it's been 6 months without a single evening gaming.

@DavidW that's rough

It's weird; it's hard enough wrangling a group of 6-8 people to meet up for gaming, but somehow it's an order of magnitude harder to do it online. Which goes completely contrary to expectations.

Q: Can the elder wand betray its owner?

AncientSwordRageI have a vague recollection that the elder wand is quite happy to betray its owner for a more powerful wizard. The best I could find was a quote from screenrant: Because this wand thinks so highly of itself, it is incredibly finicky with its ownership. This wand will only choose a witch or wizar...

And in the end the experience isn't nearly as good anyway... :-/

@DavidW that is a shame
When I used to do games, I ended up having to be exclusively online in the end
Have you got up rpg.stackexchange.com to see if they have any tips? The chat there is very good

I haven't, no. I'm thinking that perpetual lurking on another stack will probably start to impact my productivity.

Q: Help figuring out what movie a scene is from

VacantNostalgia80's, maybe early 90's. I remember a scene where a taxi driver, at night, observes a group walking onto a spaceship, maybe in a park setting. The group is dressed in human civilian clothes, and the taxi driver gets out to watch, they says something like "They wear Nike's!" Help! This is driving...

Q: Unknown fantasy novel, 1970s/80s where the gods of various religions are real, Christian god overthrows the pagans in ancient times

LeeAround 1985/86 I read a book that was probably at least a few years old. It was a fantasy set in ancient times, where the pagan gods (it mostly focussed on the Greek gods) are real and interact with each other. I don't remember the whole plot, but towards the end, there is an invasion of their wo...

Q: What evidence is there, besides his gold code, that Seraph is a "hardware" machine rather than a "software" program?

NathanSThis is a follow up to this question: Why is Seraph gold? The accepted answer to the related question above concludes that Seraph appears as gold code when Neo first meets him because he is somehow a "hardware" machine plugged into the matrix, rather than just being a "software" program like thos...

@Marvin not sure why these are being hated on (my guess at the reasoning behind the downvotes), perhaps the phrasing. I've tried to 'fix' the phrasing.

People just don't like the mass id Qs
Can you add the tag to both seeing as you edited them?

@TheLethalCarrot ah yes, sure

Q: Why do "identify all of these characters" questions get downvoted?

LincolnManMany of the "name all of these characters" questions get several downvotes. Who are the 378 mutants in this image? Can you identify each character and spacecraft in this Star Trek TNG 30th anniversary poster? Who are the characters on this Legend of Zelda poster? Who are all these superheros in...

@TheLethalCarrot I have a mass id question at +15, so not sure if it's just that

The trend for liking them has gone downhill in recent years
They certainly used to be better received
And they usually get initial downvotes and then a good answer evens it out and sends them positive if it's not too buried by then
And they almost always get at least 1 CV

9:58 AM
Also to note in this situation two very similar images were posted at the same time; I doubt that helped

@TheLethalCarrot it did look like someone was leaning too hard into making this a quize not a question

Aye, the "Can you" wasn't great wording

Q: What does JKR mean by Lily's protection adding some goodness to Voldemort?

MarieJust read this on JKR's old website: Having taken Harry’s blood into himself, Voldemort is keeping alive Lily’s protective power over Harry. So Voldemort himself acts almost like a Horcrux for Harry – except that the power of Lily’s sacrifice is a positive force that not only continues to tether...

@TheLethalCarrot not great phrasing

One of them has turned out to be a dupe as well

@TheLethalCarrot oh nice

And the other answered
The artist has given the answer to it before haha

Q: Why Skynet used nuclear weapons instead of biological weapons or viruses?

GravemindWhy Skynet used nuclear weapons agains humans, and did not used biological weapons? He is an AI. Nuclear blasts are as lethal to machines (due to EMP and radiation) as for humans. Also, they destroying a wast amount of infrastructure, thus making Skynet weaker.

Q: Will Mara Jade appear in Disney's Star Wars canon, and if so, speculations on how?

sorenKaramMara Jade, Talon Karrde, and of course Grand Admiral Thrawn were some of the most fantastic characters introduced by the "Heir to the Empire" trilogy (RIP that those weren't made into episodes 7, 8, & 9. Ahh what might have been!). It would be awesome to see the trio in Star Wars (cheers to Thraw...

Q: Who are Faltines (dormammu like beings) really, is there any mention of their dimension in MCU comics?

Stella RigeoIn Doctor Strange, we are told about Dormammu, a creature residing in the Dark Dimension, feeding upon matter. Apparently he's part of a species known as the Faltines. The Marvel Wiki article on Dormammu mentions that he and another (Umar) were born out of Sinifer, who used to feed on energy only...

R. Q: Book with stories continued on later pages with at least one misleading illustration due to the split involving a skeleton falling out of a closet

Sean DugganI read this somewhere in the late 1980s to the early 1990s as a library book in Ashland, KY. DavidWThis short story is set entirely on the emperor's personal flagship/palace, which is a monumental ship full of courtiers and all the panoply of the ruler of the solar system.
