@b_jonas TBH I think it's an interesting question (which may have not been expected from your description of a "rep grabber" question) :)

I feel like we've had a similar question before.
May have been one of those "when was the first indication that X loved Y".

12:39 AM
@Alex those are boring

@Jenayah Aren't like 90% of Harry Potter questions?

@Alex those are even more boring

Q: Did Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield rendition) contribute, unintentionally and unwittingly, to Gwen's death?

Kyle VDid Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield rendition) contribute, unintentionally and unwittingly, to Gwen's death? Usings physics and physical laws as proof, we know we can use the case of bungee jumping. We know that it stretches and that even a slight miscalculation would lead to severe injuries, if n...

FivesideddiceIn The Children of Húrin by Tolkien (and edited by his son), Húrin is bound to a stone chair at a high place on Thangorodrim by Morgoth. Q: Looking for a graphic novel and I can’t remember its name

Paul Goulartso in the early 90’s I was exposed to a graphic novel at my local library. The content was post apocalyptic or dystopian and focused on a black female heroine who I think had a name that followed an American theme. I want to say her name was Georgia Washington or something but I could be wrong....

Q: Who Were Some of Peter Parker’s Friends in College?

Capillary Cumorah During his time at ESU, who were some of Petey’s friends and/or peers? They don't need to have actually been super close to him like MJ or Harry, but just people his age whom he knew in general. P.S. Were Ice Man and Firestar actually his friends in the comics?

Q: I don't understand this scene in The Expanse S4E10

DulkanIn S4E10, Ashford hunts Inaros and attacks him near the end of the episode. He EMPs Inaros ship and decides to board it, which makes sense, as he wants to capture him. @Jenayah Should I accept my own answer on an old question that has gone as far as it ever will? Would you mind reading the comments under the answer and advising me please? scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/206061/…

Accept an answer you think is correct, or "most" correct
Some people will be put off by an accepted answer but not everyone
You don't have to have an accepted answer, it's entirely up to you

I've been hesitant to accept it since it was my own answer, incorporating speciallist knowledge from someone else's comment. I don't want to unfairly claim that person's wisdom as my own.

They offered it as a comment for improvement and you've credited them at least somewhat
Nothing wrong with accepting your own answer though

Thank you, Carrot. I will do so, then.

It's entirely up to you
I have questions I've asked, answered and accepted all by myself
And some where I've answered but not accepted or accepted a different answer
It's just what you feel is best for your Q/A pair

Q: Pandemic book with an autopsy on the sidewalk

DannyMcGI've just reread Plague by Graham Masterton, over forty years since I last read it. There was a scene that, for years, I've been convinced I read in that book, however I've now realised it isn't in it, so it must be in another fiction about a deadly plague that I read decades ago (between twenty...

12:47 PM
@Marvin @Jenayah Voted to leave open because 20+ years ago there wasn't really any way for a doctor to happen to be wandering around with a portable toolkit capable of performing autopsies.

Could you not do the majority of an autopsy with a scalpel?

@DavidW question doesn't detail whether it's a by-the-book authopsy or a McGyvered one though

Cut and look

^

1:02 PM
@TheLethalCarrot You need a bone saw (these days you could use a battery-powered angle grinder) to get a proper look at the heart and lungs.

You sure know your authopsies.

You could still cut bone with a normal saw I'd imagine though right? Would just take longer?

Too many hours watching CSI.

And hypothetically a bone saw could be part of the emergency kit anyway?

Who doesn't have a bone saw in their emergency kits?!

1:04 PM
Hard to use a normal saw without seriously messing up the tissue you want to inspect. I don't see at all how that would work.

@Jenayah That's what I was thinking!
Haha

20 years ago why would anyone be carrying a portable high-speed rotary saw, plus an extension cord? It has no use for emergency medicine outside a full OR.

In my opinion, saw aside, I think that might be stretching SFF-nal a bit too much
Even if it was 20 years ago

Fair enough; my opinion happened to swing the opposite way. (Just thought I might explain why.)

I'd rather have the conversation than not sometimes

can't either
Wait, did that change recently? Reopening made some way to be able to cast CVs again didn't it?

I thought so
oh, wait, is it because the question hasn't been edited?

Are you thinking of the proposed changes for SO?
The OP edit reopening thing?
I'm not aware of anything letting a user VTC again

You were never able to close-vote twice if the question went through a proper close-reopen cycle. Only in some situations if your vote aged away without the question getting closed.

And that's still the case right?
As far as I'm aware it is

@NapoleonWilson I was sure there was but it's probably me not remembering the ages right

@TheLethalCarrot I would think so, given that SE's general roadmap is towards less closing, not more. ;-)
