Q: Was Jack Vance a misogynist?

@Alex FWIW I'm not really interested in going on in The Maze Runner, just thought it sounded tropey

@Jenayah mm, I liked it

Hm... That question about Jack Vance should be closed as opinion based, so I cast the fifth vote to do so. However, that also rejected the migration from meta to main, which should not have happened, since it does belong on main and could've been salvaged.
Mods, is there any way to save the migration? Migrate manually, perhaps?
this question can be saved by editing the question to
a) not ask if Jack Vance himself was a misogynist, but if his works generally are, and
b) not ask for just any opinion, but specifically the opinions of scholars, critics, and other experts.
cc @Randal'Thor @Kevin ^^^
On second thought, I've flagged the question itself, saying this.

@Jenayah Ah. Though I would think that it would still be on topic-here (or Literature) even as a general question not about the specific work.

Q: Why do the three boxes appear when the parademon explodes?

Kami KazeWhen Batman is fighting the parademon in the beginning he catches the demon with a net on the wall. The demon explodes after some screaming and twitching, leaving goo picturing the three mother boxes symbol refenced afterwards in the movie. We could say it is just trying to increase the mystery ...

Q: Do the Kwikspell courses work?

user13267In Harry Potter we are introduced to Kwikspell course in CoS (and never hear about it again) We see Filch taking courses, presumably by mail The descriptions of Kwikspell make me think it is for people who are weak in magic (kind of like how Neville was supposed to be when he was younger), ...

Q: Why always Albania?

Shana TarWhat is it about Albania that makes it such a popular hiding place (Voldemort, Helena Ravenclaw) and holiday destination (Quirrell, Berta Jorkins) for British wizards? It would not be so strange in any separate case, but Albania just pops out too often in the series. Here is the theory I really ...

Q: Have they re-cast any of the X-men actor within a particular "timeline" series?

VBartilucciI've not watched most of the X-Men films after the first couple, but clearly they've been making them long enough that they've needed to re-cast people. As far as I know, that was done by shifting to the "First Class" series/timeline, with younger versions of the characters. So there's two diffe...

Should it also be tagged object-id? Some ships and devices look like they could be out of a sci-fi work.

@SQB Ooh!
@Jenayah Ooh!
So was Nagini the Dark Lord's wizard's familiar? During the Battle of Hogwarts before Nagini dies, say, to fix a specific time.
I'm asking partly because of scifi.stackexchange.com/q/146413/4918 "Could Nagini read Voldemort's mind?" and scifi.stackexchange.com/q/187904/4918 "Could Voldemort possess Nagini?" and questions like that, since a wizard would have spirit link and emphatic communication with his familiar (within a certain large range).
(The other part is the current Darths & Droids storyline.)
@Jenayah But onewho's comment is on point.
Oh wait! It no longer matters:
OP added a larger res image.

@SQB - Hi, hi, hi! Yes, we moved house in March. I just started unpacking (I wouldn't be a proper ADHD-er if I didn't procrastinate to a ridiculous point). How are you? What's new?

@WebHead what do you mean by template?

@Slytherincess We've been moved in for two years and probably have a half-dozen boxes that have never really been opened.

@SQB We can't just make a migration stick after closing. Edit it up properly and we can kick it over again

Is there a reason why Chat message notifications say who they're from but comment notifications don't?

@Donald.McLean I've been doing a lot of purging, which feels wonderful. I have four boxes of clothes for the local women's shelter. We have some storage here, but not tons, so I decided to get rid of everything that isn't, or won't be, getting used.

4:38 PM
@Slytherincess We did a bit of purging, but we actually have MORE storage in the new place - large unfinished basement with 6 industrial shelving units of various sizes. Very neat and well organized.

Q: What does the Statue of Extra Liberty represent?

ThePopMachineIn this interview with show runner Patrick Somerville, we have: In one standout absurdist moment in this wonky New York, a tour guide points out a winged "Statue of Extra Liberty" across the water (seen above). "New York needed more liberty!" Somerville joked, before offering a clarification....

SQB
How are your kids doing? They're about 20 now?

@Donald.McLean I like that we have a finished basement, but I also wish we had more storage space. Being disorganized stresses me out.
@SQB Glad your kids are doing well. Yeah, mine are 20 and 21.

SQB
@Kevin I flagged the question as well (don't know why I didn't think of that before). It's now on main again, I think.
@Slytherincess the eldest got braces today.

@SQB Oh, nice! His teeth will be sore tonight.

SQB
5:51 PM
Probably.
I've never had them, so I don't know — can't help him there.

I had them - they hurt at first.
Everything okay?

SQB
With the braces? Yeah. Four teeth had to come out first, though.
We found it hard, he didn't even flinch.
He's a tough kid, in a way.

@WebHead We'll have to take care not overriding each other's edits. I've spotted it twice because I knew what I had added, but I wouldn't know for others' contributions :/
Not that it's a big deal, but we'll have to take a look at the rev history when the adrenaline goes down :p

I meant with you. Everything okay with you?

SQB
6:11 PM
Yeah, pretty much.
You?

Can someone upvote this, please, so that it doesn't stay stuck in the "load 1 more comment" queue?
Please everyone, make sure to reload the post beore you commit your edit. I've gone through the revision history to correct several overriden contributions, but it'd be better if everybody checked before to avoid such a thing. — Jenayah 1 min ago

@SQB I take it day by day. Today is basically okay.

Seriously, it's a pain :/

@Slytherincess your knee? Or other ailments?

@Alex thanks
God, this thing is a mess

Q: Helicopters - TWD Seasons 1 and 7

MissouriSpartanIn both seasons 1 and 7, Rick encounters helicopters flying overhead. @SQB No, I just never shared it before. It can be stigmatizing, IYKWIM.

@Alex actually this one could use one, always worth a try:
Who keeps flattening the indents? It must be which browser they're using? — nebogipfel 48 secs ago

@Jenayah It already has one, but I have enough to spare that I can give it another one.

SQB
@Slytherincess well, you're brave for sharing.

@Alex yeah the other one is mine

6:37 PM
@SQB It only took me seven years to gather the courage :))

@Alex I'm abusing your daily votes, but well:
For what it's worth, I've been following the edits since the beginning and I have a Wordpad with all those which got deleted along the way (might have missed one or two of course). When the adrenaline cools down I'll edit them in, but right now 4 persons editing at once leads to too much version conflict. — Jenayah 2 mins ago
Seriously though, don't feel like you have to do it but if you're volunterring, eh :)

@Jenayah It's not a problem.
But of course I'm expecting some upvotes in return.

Q: Is there a Force power in Star Wars that allows one to create objects by "crystallizing" the force?
