@Narusan Try the Riftwar series by Raymond E Feist. High fantasy, with enough fantasy stereotypes that reading it makes me feel sort of safe and comfortable, and there are various thresholds where you can stop if you've had enough or continue if you want more.

The original three books (Magician, Silverthorn, and A Darkness at Sethanon) are sold as a trilogy, but really Magician is pretty much a standalone novel and an excellent introduction to the universe, while the other two are more like a two-part series.

Then there's a dozen or so other series set in the same universe(s) - Midkemia/Kelewan - but which are in turn fairly self-contained once you know the universe.

So you can decide how many of these books/series you want to read, without feeling as though you've broken off in the middle of a story.
