But we have 8 recorded cases of it, and at least 7 regulars are being disrupted by it (plus users nearby), I don't think it is that simple

I will heavily suggest whoever is behind it to confess themselves, in order to help resolve this issue once and for all

We are happy that if this can be solved without escalating to the SE devs (because there's always a risk of a chat room being closed down, similar to how the toxicity lead to the old scifi and fantasy room's closure), but whoever is behind this must cooperate

@Secret Look, there won't be any more star spams, I have told that person clearly.

And he's really apologetic of this.

I think everyone in the whole chat deserves for an explanation of his motives and how he will make sure it will not happen again

Even if I forgive him (which is easy for me for first offense), it is not me to decide, I think we should show the rest of the chat about this conversation (because this star spamming business had been really disruptive to the chat), in order to at least give them all a resurance that we have dealt with the issue. Do you agree me to link the math chat people to here so that we can tell them that we have some resolution to this disruption and no need to escalate to the SE devs?

But be warned, if this phenomenon happened again, I won't give anymore chances and will instantly escalate it with the meta post (and i will probably do so if any future instance has nothing to do with the person you know above, because then it will seriously affect the chat operation and the identity of the new person has to be found)
