Oooh fancy

@RedRiderX yeah seems like it would make sense

Fancy indeed.

So in chat @Ronan was thinking of sunday for our first session, where we'd make characters
not sure if he had plans to actually play as well?

Yes there is a session time in roll20 now

12:24 AM
yeah just looking in there now

@Wipqozn Hmm character creation can take a bit of time if we don't use premades and maybe we'll want to talk about what people are looking for in a campaign / how much time people have.

@RedRiderX I can whip up a character pretty quickly, since I got experience

But since Ronan is defacto dm at this point maybe he's made plans.

I'm planning to go a caster. Not sure on which one yet.
Leaning towards Bard, but might go Cleric or Wizard as well.
Probably Bard though

Based on the fact that it's 2:30AM here, Ronan is probably asleep.

12:27 AM
True

@Arperum Most likely
crazy kids

I should be to, but I'm an idiot.

Are PC relationships part of the character creation in D&D5e?
I guess I could look this up...

True but a 400 page document would probably be a bit imposing for a newbie and only really needed for a dm
But yeah still makes sense to add it

12:30 AM
@RedRiderX Main benefit is that it contains all the classes
huh actually, it's not a complete reference

@Wipqozn Technically no, but it's the vast majority of all the books they sell
It has to be enough to base modules off of I guess

@RedRiderX it's got enough for a newbie anyways
I'm pretty sure I'll make a BArd. Bards go well with large groups, and they're good at covering up any gaps in the party. Bards are great.
Any idea what you guys are going to make @Arperum and @RedRiderX?

@Wipqozn Maybe some barbarian type, since in the RL campaign I'm playing (currently once a month, but whatever) I'm a wizard.

@Arperum I've got a druid going in my RL campaign, but that campaign is ending soon. Will be making a new one soon.. in which I might also play a bard haha
bards are great, and have a lot of options due to magical secrets

@Wipqozn I've played a short campaign with a druid years ago. Was fun too.

12:40 AM
@Arperum Yeah Druids are great

1:02 AM
I'm either going to play Paladin or Ranger.

1:51 AM
I'm thinking of maybe a Human Rogue
Something with lots of knives.

2:11 AM
Even if I play Ranger, I'll still be melee/frontline.

@Wipqozn What is this ghost comment you seem to have made in Roll20?
You're the last to talk on both threads but I only see one message!?

2:37 AM
@RedRiderX There was one I made that I deleted
IT was something about when we're playing, but I deleted it since I saw the session
@Yuuki Both solid options. RL buddy is a tanky paladin, and he's a huge credit to team.
They have a lot of out of combat utility as well

I was thinking either switch-hitter Ranger or Paladin/Warlock.
I'm in Discord now if anyone wants to talk.

8 hours later…
10:36 AM
hey

2 hours later…
12:41 PM
I was planning on this session just being character building and setup.
I also need to know what style of campaign y'all want me to write, but I've got a generic start sorted so if people want to jump right into it and we have time we can do that.

1:11 PM
@Ronan that's fine, just curious

9 hours later…
9:44 PM
@Ronan How do you feel about Volo's Guide?
I read over it a bit and some of the stuff seems a bit overpowered.

@Yuuki I haven't actually read it, if you want to use something from it I'll do some research.

I'm thinking about using an aasimar and taking advantage of the subrace change ability.

The main issue with the UE classes is that they do all the things, so it can make you the centre of attention and ruin it for other players.

How do you feel about the Undying Light patron for Warlock?
I only plan on taking it 3 levels max and it's not even my first choice, but I figured I'd get some feedback just in case.

I've been told that UE classes aren't balanced for multiclassing.

9:54 PM
Fair enough. I'll probably stick with Vengeance/Fiend then.
What about the revised Ranger UA?

@Yuuki Yeah definitely use that ranger rather than the phb one.

10:09 PM
Actually I think the Undying Light is fine for multiclassing.
Although according to reddit it does, but I don't know the game well enough to work out how.

10:50 PM
Undying Light being broken for multiclassing?

1 hour later…
11:55 PM
Yeah people say multiclassing does break it, but I have no clue.
The issue isn't with it ruining the campaign or anything, the issue with the unearthed arcana tends to be that it can make other players redundant and you end up overshadowing them and then they don't get any time to shine.
