@alexw It is a tough pill to swallow. I KNOW. Gosh, I am sorry, Alex! I swear, you have rights. Just gotta go find them cause there is no way even an old home from the 20's would have been financed by a bank without abiding by strict rules. I am dying to find out RCW etc etc etc for Indiana's building codes; what they've made the length of the warranty. Like I said, in Washington State it is 12 years! If that contractor is still around that contractor has to fix their mistakes.

@alexw I just learned some very disturbing news about home owner's insurance, car insurance...I am not saying you smoke marijuana at all. If your home burns down, your foundation fails the first thing fire fighters and officials will search for is any sign of marijuana. For instance one seed allows an insurance company to deny any coverage. This year, the new policies are showing a tiny tiny clause buried saying if there is any illegal substance found in your home, they will deny coverage.
How easy would it be to 'plant' evidence of illegal substances. If Indiana hasn't legalized marijuana, doesn't matter. States that have legalized marijuana have people that think they are safe. This isn't just Marijuana. Kratom? Other illegal substances are included. In one's car as well. You pay and pay and pay on time every month yet unless you have read the fine fine fine print you might be wasting your money. This is evil...thought I'd cheer you up even more!
@alexw I know this is not a new home, Alex. Doesn't matter! All homes have to qualify to be 'bought' by the bank. Occupancy permits? Any and all additions made to the home have to follow rules, strict rules (I thought)! Some stuff is fine that the home owner did DIY. If there were any changes/additions in electricity, trust me, only an electrician can sign off on the work. Some times plumbing needs a licensed plumber to sign, gulp! Anything structural needs engineering...etc.

yeah :-/
based on the advice I got on reddit, I'm SOL. I didn't do my due diligence before we closed
and I probably should have gotten an agent who understands intrinsic valuation
structural engineer is coming out in a month, so we'll go from there
