@NiallC nice work on moderation. Changing answers to comments is a great way to keep answers clean

From a local TV station:
Portlanders invent Lego-like blocks for gardens
wax eagle
@NiallC. are those
really
new?
Niall C.
@waxeagle I saw it on the internet... it must be true
wax eagle
heh :)
Niall C.
I haven't seen anything quite like them though; the closest I've seen IRL are concrete forms that interlock
wax eagle
yeah I'm not sure I've seen anything quite like that. Seems silly taht someone wouldn't have thought of it yet.
They wouldn't be hard to build molds for, but getting the tolerances right so they'd interlock might be tough
oh they're plastic. I was thinking they'd be concrete

@waxeagle My first thought was that Lego would probably be visiting real soon with a cease-and-desist
wax eagle
@NiallC. nope. the patent is expired
Niall C.
Didn't know that
wax eagle
yeah it's been expired for
years
their market domination has to do with branding, product quality and IP licensing.
not with exclusivity

btw they are kickstarting it:

@waxeagle I saw that. I'm half-thinking of backing it
I have a raised-bed kit a friend gave me that is pretty nice: metal corner braces, just add lumber. I'll post a photo sometime I get around to assembling it.
wax eagle
@NiallC. nice. I've thought about getting one of those. I think raised beds are the way to go where I live
