12:02 AM
@Adám alrighty, looking forward to it!

RGS
12:25 AM
@Adám Are you having a go at it? ⍥

@RGS Not now. I'm not working today, and certainly not at this hour.

RGS
@Adám I think that's reasonable, just trying to understand how crazy you are :-D

@RGS Before I begin, I'll want to meet with Andy (our COO/QA man) to understand how much functionality I can expect to be available at QA time.

RGS
@Adám Also sounds reasonable, thanks for the explanation!

6 hours later…
6:31 AM
@Adám curious, do y'all have an in-place transpose for higher-ranked arrays in dyalog?

@Moonchild Yes.

hmmmm. (Trying to figure out an algorithm that doesn't require an inordinate amount of higher-order index arithmetic.)

@Moonchild We've had some very clever people implement things.

I note the TOS forbid disassembly...guess I'll have to figure it out on my own :)

5 hours later…
ngn
11:37 AM
@Adám are you sure?

@ngn Well, it is easy to test.

ngn
@Adám yes:
⍴ 10000 20000⍴'abc' ⍝ok
⍴⍉10000 20000⍴'abc' ⍝wsfull

Huh. Well, maybe I'm wrong then. We can ask @Marshall
@ngn Hold on, what version is that?

ngn
@Adám 18.0.38525 unregistered

Hm, yeah, I just did the same here. Colour me surprised. I was sure this was in-place.
@Moonchild Looks like I'm mistaken ^^^

ngn
11:44 AM
@Adám maybe only for square matrices?

@ngn Ah yes, that does work.
@ngn Even cubic arrays work.

ngn
@Moonchild W

12:29 PM
(sucks that java doesn't want to do subpixel antialiasing despite there being options for it)

@dzaima Looking good! I find BQN386 to be the more readable of the two, a big fan of the "diet" you put the stroke on

@ab5tract i didn't do anything with the stroke, it changed size itself. I like it more though too, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
i guess i'll (finally) add 𝕣 and then upload the updated font to paste's

@dzaima :D
are you keeping the sources anywhere? I might take a stab at adjusting some hinting

12:44 PM
@ab5tract not currently, but i could upload it

up to you of course. if possible UFO is the best option for VCS

12:56 PM
exporting to ufo and generating a ttf from that in fontforge halved the ttf size..
font has definitely changed, don't know what or why. doesn't look like there's outright no hinting either

curious indeed. are the visuals impacted at all?

@ab5tract things definitely have moved around
anyways, here's the sfd for now, if you can make sense of it, convert it to whatever

thanks!

2:01 PM
(reinstructing the loaded ufo in fontforge restores everything to as it was)

4 hours later…
RGS
6:29 PM
@Adám (I'll be interested in knowing how this goes pls)

@RGS I'll let you know, but we don't work on Sundays :-)

RGS
@Adám I know, I just remembered this and wanted to ping you before I forgot :-D

Oh.

RGS
Well, let me rephrase that: "I hope not"

2 hours later…
8:06 PM
@Adám sad b/c I want an apple

Oh, so you did get hooked on the sauce. :-)

"sauce"?
what do you mean, "sauce"?

APL sauce.

is- is that another pun?

Yes. Sorry.
> Sauce. A word used to describe something as especially good, often used stand alone as an interjection.

8:11 PM
today I learned
@matt oh gosh what was I thinking when I typed that?

@matt You have most of the basic APL knowledge. Now you main task is to build vocabulary. Maybe have a look at the past chat lessons or look at the other learning resources?

8:34 PM
@Adám Also, apple sauce

@AviFS Uh, yes, that's the pun.

Haha, I hoped that was the pun
But when they were confused, since you referred @matt to the following definition:
> Sauce. A word used to describe something as especially good, often used stand alone as an interjection.
I figured that wasn't what you were referring to, as I'd assumed you would've referred directly to apple sauce in that case
Anyway, more for @matt, than you! Just that you happened to say it
@Brian Makes absolutely perfect sense! Most programming challenges I'm aware of do. But since it's different from Phase I's philosophy which explicitly grants you only a silver trophy if edge cases aren't met: I figured I'd check they were left out intentionally :)

9:07 PM
@Adám love your reaction to that :)
also, was watching some Star Trek: Voyager and having lunch so sorry about the hour-long gap in communication

2 hours later…
11:06 PM
@ngn I saw that, but it's only for 2-d. Same principle applies to higher-dimensions ofc, but higher-order coords are expensive to work with (though I could special-case the first few and do non-inplace for higher). This looks promising (with caveats), though I haven't had time to read it through yet
