so i'm kind of curious now - is there good work out there for someone who is interested in like, apl/j/k consulting/contracting?
wondering if they are one of Those Languages where there's a lot of systems around and very few programmers to do the work

@dogstar an occasional mention of kdb can be spotted in hn's "who is hiring?". apl - probably not outside the realm of dyalog and their two or three sponsors. never heard of any j jobs, but there must be - j is free and, beyond syntax, not too horrible
sadly apljk jobs are 0% compared to java python etc

@ngn aw - dang. thanks for the response though.
@ngn but also - how often are there ads for cobol jobs around? i hear anecdotally at least that there's a lot of contracting work still to be done there, and i imagine it's accomplished a lot through networking. maybe i just want it to be true for apl though ;)

@dogstar I think that the companies that are serious about APL and K (I don't know if any companies use J commercially) have taken to training their own programmers, but that doesn't mean they will shy away from taking someone who already knows APL. In fact, we do have some customers ask us to help them find both educated consultants and people willing to be trained. Interested? Where are you geographically?
