@B.Wilson Yeah .. back in the day Dyalog APL distinguished between ASCII single quote and the APL Quote, between ASCII pipe and APL Modulus, and ASCII Caret and APL And. Some "interesting" code was added to the interpreter when we changed to not distingushing between the pairs so that existing code continued to work.

@AndyS Is the "APL Quote" in Unicode? (Like '∣∧'≡⎕UCS 8739 8743)
(I guess that'd be awkward, as then it'd need escaping in character literals.)
@Adám Oh indeed yes :-) Even more awkward when the limitations of the font meant that both characters were displayed as the same glyph.
But it is just the ASCII quote, no?

Take a look at "mapchars". In v5 for example you had to be very careful about ⎕av[⎕io+13 219] for example
