@NathanMerrill Haha that's funny.

xkcd 1970: Name Dominoes is pretty neat. I wonder if Randall used an algorithm to place them.

He'd have to make the graph manually
Because there are connections like "Elizabeth Kolbert" and "Stephen Colbert"

2:33 PM
There's also William Safire - Garnet - Jack Ruby.
Still though, those seem like exceptions one could easily add to the algorithm.

I loved this video
so much interesting linguistics
especially at the end: I had no idea autoantonyms existed
but I love them

@NathanMerrill I didn't remember that was their name but I knew that actually! "Literally" is literally my least favorite example.

yeah, because it's origin comes from the real meaning of literally
I think "off" is my favorite

Yeah, it kinda blue blew my mind that there are more examples of autoantonyms than I thought, and that some really common words/phrases are autoantonyms.
Also, no mention of homophones is really complete without this Veggietales song:

I thought this was pretty interesting. In essence, there's a particular kind of tree that provides food and shelter for lemon ants, so those lemon ants kill other species of plants with formic acid to help their tree buddies grow without much competition.

...the real question is what is stopping them from expanding
is it simply the slow growth rate of trees?

3:38 PM
Considering that one of them was mentioned to be at least 800 years old (as a colony), probably a slow growth rate yeah.

3:54 PM
These Genaille-Lucas rulers are pretty neat!

@NathanMerrill hehe, I suppose it takes quite some effort to come up with these words:D
