@Zaid - Here's the tool I made ... It isn't working for what I need ... so it appears I'm going to the "next step" ... Looks like I'll be purchasing some heads

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 it is what it is. If the head is junk, here's me hoping you might as well give my idea a try

@Zaid - Clue me again ... which idea?

I doubt you'll be able to execute it in a day though
You need the threaded rods to go through the valve guides
Some bolts and washers to clamp the rods to the head
And the box section needs some strategically placed holes drilled

Is this a push or a pull exercise?

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 if I were to hazard a guess I'd say that the Vise grip didn't have enough bite
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 push

@Zaid - They do have enough bite, but they are chipping away at the end of the valve.

Lol

And the valve isn't moving
Well, valve stem, actually

So do you fancy giving the idea a go?

I don't think it will work for two different reasons:
1) I've tried beating on both ends and it doesn't move.
2) Because of #1, pushing or pulling on the stem would most likely crush any kind of tube, or bend straight metal.

These heads are crap anyway. I just not overly worried about it.
I think at this point, I'm going to be stuck with a machine bill on these heads which would be more expensive than buying the other heads.
I would imagine at this point, I'd need to have the guides cut, new brass inserts installed, & reamed to size. Then I'll need to get a new set of valves and get a valve job done on it.
@Zaid - I hadn't thought about that ... it might work ... but the head is pretty much frozen right now as it's sitting in the garage. The garage is unheated. Outside, it's snowing, so around 32°F ... yah, great fun.
The fun part about it is ... There may be enough snow to get me out of work tomorrow ... I'd be all over that, lol! :o)
🖖
Dang, you can't see it, lol
