12:00 AM
@chronolegends See ya man!

12:30 AM
Hello.
@SimplyBeautifulArt
Who is that?

Don't ask me man XD

Should't he be, you know
reported?

I reached 4 pages in my top answers section.
That feeling you have.

Haha, nice

12:42 AM
When you can't solve a chemistry problem.
And realized the reason yo couldn't solve it.

Yup
Oh
Not me

was because you misplaced atmospheric preassure with pascals!
Oh, I'm not talking about ypu.
I'm just you know, complaning about my general situation.

Haha, ok then

:)
Is there a difference between
8) and :)?

Depends on the size of your eyeballs
Then you should use one or the other

12:48 AM
Can you graph a smile on discord?
I mean desmos
Desmos is the graphing program.

Yes, of course

How can you do so?
My attempt:
Though I guess this works too.

God, that smile looks creepy.

He's watching you

1:00 AM
Pretty sure it has to do with Uncanney Valley.
Big brother is watching you?

Sounds like a horror movie.
we should publish our graphs
call it modern art.
:)

(No offence to modern artists)
Shoot, @SimplyBeautifulArt
We're neck and neck this week.

1:03 AM
The weekly reputation league.

Oh
Ok
Permission to crush you?

No.
But I probably won't be as active next month.

Then permission to crush you in the quarterly rep league?

Well, you probably crushed me already.
My aim is surpassing Rohan.

Oh, right

1:08 AM
There's at least a 3k gap between us if I recall.

Mhm.....
3.5k gap

Right
@SimplyBeautifulArt Do you know
what the limit I gave you yesterday is?

Hm...
the one with binomial coefficients?

Yes.

No, I couldn't figure it out in a nice way yet
But I'm watching assassination classroom right now

1:20 AM
The anime
?

And working on homework
Yes

What classes do you have?

Second year physics, 'second' year calculus, computer science principals, environmental science, US history :-(, and Chinese language

Computer science?
I'm interested in what you learn there.
@SimplyBeautifulArt Here's a piece of information I know

1:23 AM
that I think is related to American history.
Question:
How many pages are in Thomas Paine's Common Sense?
We learned it in history class.

It's a nice number.

lol, I have no idea

It's $$e^{ \int_{0}^{1} \frac{x^{47-1}}{\ln x}} $$

Ah, ok
Wait, really? That's how many pages?
That's not at all as many as I'd expect.

1:26 AM
$48$.
Yes.
Really Short.

Do you know what
$$\int_{0}^{1}\sin{(\pi x)}x^x(1-x)^{1-x}dx$$
Is?

No, I haven't figured out that one.

I know the answer, but can't prove it.

Lmao, ok
LMAO

1:29 AM
Lmao

The guy who blew up the world is the teacher, and he's basically kneeling to the principal.

?
You talking about the anime?

Ha.
Sounds fun

yeah, it is
He moves about 30 or so times the speed of sound too, and he tries to teach the entire class individually like that...

1:31 AM
That yellow guy?

Yeah, he's pretty busy
He even has time to change headbands between each student

@SimplyBeautifulArt Lol
Sorry, was busy

Lmao
And some episodes are about fighting the exams
because these students are the lowest class
Which is probably why the teacher tries so hard

The lowest class?

1:46 AM
Yes. The worst grades and all that

The teacher looks like a emoji on octopus

XD He practically is

😊😁😃Did not know I had these on my phone.

What other anime do you watch?
Did you watch
Death note?
I assume you did.

1:51 AM
I'm going to watch Death Note, but I haven't yet

I recommend it.

I've watched One Punch Man, I'm watching Dragon ball super, some Bleach, and Fairy Tail, and SAO
Yeah, I do too XD

Did you watch Code Geass?

No
^ The above list is all I've watched

I don't watch anime with more than 100 episodes.
Well, my anime period was only 4 months

1:53 AM
Lol

I watched 16 anime series during that time.

Nice
I'm gonna say I have to stop, because I'm so dead tired

Goodbye and Good night.

Goodnight man

4 hours later…
5:37 AM
@S.C.B. @SimplyBeautifulArt: Just for fun, here are two smiley graphs that I made in a couple of minutes...
(x^2+y^2-4)^2*(x^2+y^2)/(x^2+y^2+2)<-1-y+4/(1+(x^2-1)^2+(y-1)^2)
(x^2+y^2-4)^2*(x^2+y^2)/(x^2+y^2+2)<-y+3/(1+(x^2-1)^2+(y-1)^2)
:-)

6 hours later…
11:54 AM
Lol. All in one line @user21820 ?

Plot it yourself and see.
I'm using Graph, not Desmos, so I can't just give a link.
If you change from the first to the second the smile grows wider.

12:45 PM
@user21820 I don't believe desmos accepts such complicated inequalities

@SimplyBeautifulArt Then do try Graph or Geogebra. Graph can easily do recursive definitions because it has a ternary conditional operator and custom definable functions!
It's not my software, but I've been using it for years for plotting graphs, though I use Geogebra for geometry.

Okay, I'll look at it when I can

1:10 PM
For a sample of nice graphs on Math SE that I've used it to plot, you can see this and this. =)

2:02 PM
@SimplyBeautifulArt Were you looking for me, @SimplyBeautifulArt? I just got back online, saw you "ping"...

2:16 PM
@amWhy huh?
I do not recall a ping, but good morning anyways

2:53 PM
@SimplyBeautifulArt Click the little arrow to the left of amWhy's message to see what she's referring to. To create that arrow, mouse-over a message you wish to reply to and click the little arrow to the right of it.

Yup...

1 hour later…
4:41 PM
sigh

Xam
Hello :)

alrighty you guys, day two of the flags coming from here.

Xam
what do you mean Thomas?

5:18 PM
@Xam Here.

Xam
Yes
Well, I asked you because I feel you would do great in abstract algebra

What is it?
Abstract Algebra I mean.
I know it has to something with structures.

Xam
It's the study of algebraic structures like groups, rings, modules, fields, algebras, lattices, monoids, etc xD
There are many structures and all of them are beautiful (ate least for me) XD
at*

Could I listen so some online course on this thing?

Xam
Well, about books, you shouldn't worry about it because you can download them from some webpages. I do that because in my country is impossible to find that kind of books
Yes, there are some online courses in MIT, Harvard for example

5:22 PM
How to get access to them?
Seems illegal.

Xam
Those courses are basically about group/ring theory
The courses are free. I don't have the links now but I'll look later

OK.
How do you get access to books?

Xam
There is Russian page (now in English) where you can download books, though it's not legal :(
But that's the only way to get some books on abstract algebra.
I dunno, maybe you can buy it in your country.

Hmmm....
I don't like buying books.
I always forget to read them.
Perhaps they're on Amazon.

Xam
Also there are some free notes on the internet about algebra
Keith Conrad has some very nice notes about specific topics on abstract algebra
Well, I gotta go. See you later :)

5:29 PM
Good bye.

1 hour later…
6:47 PM
@ThomasWard :-/

7:14 PM
@SimplyBeautifulArt :-{

wait, i didn't say anything in the chat today
what happened this time

@S.C.B. You might want to take a look at an online Abstract Algebra study guide, also available as a pdf
It isn't a full text, but it's a good place to start. I'll search my other "favorites/bookmarks" (but I have well over a thousand such favorites and bookmarks, some organized, but too many still left in the "general bookmarks" which haven't yet been sorted.

7:34 PM
@Starfall @ThomasWard ?

@SimplyBeautifulArt yeah, i was curious about what got flagged

'tis ultimately irrelevant.
and handled.

@ThomasWard well, we aren't curious about things just because they are relevant, are we

well Shog told me to not worry about it, so blah.
returns to lurking because he is working on a code project

@ThomasWard Lurk to your heart's delight...(and get to work on your code!) :-)

2 hours later…
9:08 PM
@all anyone have any thoughts on or disagreements with my recommendations for study techniques found here?

Q: How and when to do exercises from books?

OviMost math books I have seen seem to be structured in the same way; each chapter is a few dozen pages, and after each chapter there are a few dozen exercises. I often find myself not knowing what exercises to do and when to do them. If I have read the first 10 pages, I'm not sure what $x$ is in "t...

9:23 PM
@BrevanEllefsen i think you just look at the exercises
if you think you can solve them, great
if not, you sit down and work them out

2 hours later…
11:35 PM
$$\int_0^\infty x^2\ln(x)e^{-x^2}\ dx$$
A random integral for anyone
