Only recently I have realized how "strange" the pronunciation of 反映 is to me. the "ne" part reminds me a lot of the "ñe" in Spanish or the "nhe" in Portuguese. Did not realize that Japanese had such sounds as well... maybe I am mistaken.

@FelipeChavesdeOliveira I think I have heard that Japanese and Spanish do have a lot of sounds in similar - their pronunciation overall is of course different due to the nature of the languages but (or so I've heard) there's a lot of phonetic alphabet, specifically with the "r" sounds and with the vowels.

@hyper-neutrino I am a native Portuguese speaker and I can say I had a rather easy time with most of the pronunciation, intonation is a whole other deal. But I wasn't aware that a sound similar to ñ or nh was possible in Japanese.

@a20 Some sites are stricter than others in that regard. On the site I moderate, I lean towards keeping helpful information. It seems Japanese SE is also similarly situated.
