Spent 30 min writing an answer, and was almost done when the question was deleted (-_-)
at least it wasn't hours of research

japanese.stackexchange.com/questions/71907 I think the linked question is not an actual duplicate since it talks about mascots, not people

8:52 AM
@IgorSkochinsky now it's reopened ^^

9:39 AM
@Chocolate It was a question asking something about a novel or manga with 邪教の集団 and 聖騎士隊

@By137 おぉ。。

self answers are perfectly allowed, even encouraged to spread the learning. Though it also helps with verifying your answer.

actually there is a roomba script that will clean up old downvoted posts, but they need a score of <0 to be eligible for deletion

I have a possible answer on why mountains and lakes are on and kawa is kun
rivers originate in mountains and lakes

3:12 PM
But answering would entail showing some sort of evidence. They are not a collection of hypotheses, suppositions, and opinions. Did you find a credible source that shows because rivers originate in mountains and lakes the kun reading came to be used for them?

They are my thoughts
I wanted to gather others thoughts

OK, but I think you'll find that won't go over well. It pretty much goes directly against site policy. See stackoverflow.blog/2010/09/29/good-subjective-bad-subjective "discussions, debates, opinions — should be closed as subjective." This is about asking, but the principle is the same.
And the rules are stricter than when asking. japanese.stackexchange.com/help/answer-bans

thats why I wanted to discuss it here.

oh ok

see what others think
there is no answer to the question anyhow

3:26 PM
Yeah, that's because it is pretty much unanswerable

thats why i wanted to discuss my thoughts

I mean, for the amount of research it would take to get an answer with even a little evidence
Yeah, I see where you are coming from

so far my thoughts can't be disapproved

3:59 PM
disproved

4:22 PM
would いい匂い indicate a good smell and 悪い 匂いindicate a bad smell ? I am chatting about food.

4:47 PM

Q: How worth it is to sit the 漢字検定 【かんじけんてい】 to get a job in IT?

jarmanso7One of my goals is to land a job in Japan as a software engineer. I have 2 years of experience in my field and I'm currently aiming to get the JLPT N3. I have been thinking of giving 漢字検定【かんじけんてい】 a try, either the level 7 or 6. Do you think it is worth taking this exam so as to impress the recru...

](https://detail.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/qa/question_detail/q1311528768)

I'm at a conference and was wondering if it is inappropriate or unwelcome to try to speak Japanese with the Japanese researchers when one-on-one, particularly when their english isn't great.

make it happen, nothing wrong with networking
