> 「かなりおいしい」「とても優秀だ」のように形容詞・形容動詞の度合いを限定する程度副詞は、「もっと子供だ」など段階性を持つ名詞を修飾するほか、「走る」など量的概念‌で解釈できる動詞については、「かなり走る」のように量的な意味について限定する。しかし、「*その人物はかなり死んだ」のように、動作についての量的解釈ができない場合は‌適格文にならない。

このような例では、どう考えても連体修飾語だとしか思えません・・・

@DariusJahandarie, interesting stuff. I'm not familiar with Neo-Davidsonian semantics, but from what I can understand, it sounds like 主に is not modifying the noun directly, and possibly not modifying the event either, but instead is modifying some other aspect of the utterance. という理解で宜しいでしょうか。

正直なところ、自分もよくわからないので…
What I do know is that the naive encoding of ∃e eat(e) & Agent(e, I) & Theme (e, Chocolate) & mainly(e) does not differentiate between the two meanings, which means that "mainly" should be doing something different.

2:29 AM
Maybe we can encode 「主にチョコを食べる」 as mainly(∀e (eat(e) & Agent(e, I)) → Theme (e, Chocolate)) or mainly(∀e Agent(e, I) → eat(e) & Theme (e, Chocolate)), depending on which meaning, but this seems like a very complex encoding. I've certainly never seen anything like that done before.
(That is, you're making a statement about the chance of an event with certain properties having some other properties.)

@EiríkrÚtlendi 失恋する、って、状態動詞じゃない気がします。。失恋している、とか、失恋し続けている、って言わないと思うので
失恋し続けている、って聞くと、数人の人に告白して何回もフラれてる感じがします

@choco 説明どうもありがとう!残念ながら手元の参考書ではこんな詳細まではのっていません。 Navajo語だと telicity が動詞の構造で指定されていますけれど、日本語ですと紛らわしい場合があります。
とりあえずポストを訂正します。

I think that in this case, the relevant lexical aspect feature is durativity rather than telicity.

@oals Sorry, I think my comments in chat might have been misleading the other day. Let me clarify:

① Editing a question to get it reopened is encouraged. For example, if a question is closed as "unclear what you're asking", then clarifying the question helps to get it reopened and is encouraged.

② Editing old closed questions to fix typos, fix up formatting, and so on is generally discouraged. It bumps the question to the top of the site, but despite the clean-up it's still not considered a good, on-topic question for the site.

Q: Subject tracing

NadiaI am a translator from Japanese into Italian and I have translated a long text, it is the scrap of novel and not from the beginning, so it has been very difficult for me to understand. The following are the sentences which I am not sure to have properly translated. Could you help me? ポンポンと軽くお手玉し...

I agree with you that they could have posted their new, more specific question separately, though.
