Happy to talk about it if you are still up for it. Just saying. I actually feel like people are too scared to say "Well I think that's cultural appropriation"
@EddieKal I consider cultural appropriation to be a meaningless and very nationalist concept since every culture has taken things from other cultures throughout history, so taking inspiration from another culture that is not my own for my projects is not a bad thing at all. The use of that kanji is just an idea that came to my mind. — Rainer 2 hours ago
Writing off cultural appropriation as "nationalist" is highly problematic. 4 likes? Seriously? Reactionary much?
Again, I am open to discussion.
But this kind of thing just reminds of me the Omaha elder standing in front of a bunch of white kids taunting, insulting, and jeering.

I think the opposite. People throw out the 'cultural appropriation' tag for the silliest things.

Do you think cultural appropriation concerns are all nationalist in nature?

Also, I'm not interested in bringing the American culture war into JLSE.

Cultural appropriation is universal. Let's focus on the idea

I would rather not. That's why I deleted the comment.

Sure. I am simply suggesting that people react very strongly and reactionarily to any mention of serious issues
I wanted to know if people really agreed with that comment or some people just loathe the term cultural appropriation
If that's indeed the case then yeah people should be and have been afraid to broach serious issues that haunt language and culture communities
I mean if you (this is a generic you) don't agree that cultural appropriation is nationalistic in nature and you liked that comment just to teach people who dare to talk about it a lesson, I appreciate it and lesson learned
That how deeply entrenched the fear is

Q: Why was this answer suggested as a "low quality post" by the system?

Eddie KalOf all posts this one? Seriously? Was it because it had no Latin characters and even the numerals were fullwidth? https://japanese.stackexchange.com/review/low-quality-posts/30361 If that was indeed the case is there anything we can do to improve the low quality detection system?
