Does anyone know when Japanese began using zero? I know that zero is somewhat of a foreign thing in a lot of mathematics, but I'm wondering why they didn't make their own word for it, and just when it came about...

The Sunzi Suanjing, of unknown date but estimated to be dated from the 1st to 5th centuries, and Japanese records dated from the eighteenth century, describe how counting rods were used for calculations. eventually I've got banned from there completely for quite minor violation - i used distorted version of my name, not the "very real one"

People have a lot of strange reactions to online communities

And I think can be easily offended when it doesn't conform to their idea of what it should be

I guess it comes from the overall lack of communication skills. Some people have the Internet as their only window to the "outside world" and show the same lack there by getting offended and stuff.
