I guess 「<名詞句A>など<名詞句B>」 means 「<名詞句B> such as <名詞句A>」

The Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar says "A particle normally follows nado"

It doesn't explain what happens when a noun (phrase) follows など

Theseus was an enemy that ended the story alive. So I think that you are right, the interviewer is asking about the wellbeing of that character.
I have another doubt, I hope don't bother you. I can't find the sense to these two questions.

リンかけのパンチで一番威力のあるのは何ですか?
「大声を出す。威力はあんまし変わらないのに大声を出した方…誰だ、こんな事言い出したのは。」

最初はぱふかな。じゃ、より大声で叫んだ方が?
「勝つんじゃない?少年ジェットって昔の番組知ってる?ミラクルボイスってのがあったんだ。あれ大声出した方が勝ちなの。」

リンかけ is Ring ni Kakero (the manga), 少年ジェット (Shônen Jetto) is an old tv program.

@Seiya The interviewer said パンチ. So, is the manga about boxing?
Yes, probably it is, cos it's "リング"にかけろ. I'll just google it now though.

I was googling about お花代, and one of the hits I got on google images was from tenchuu37.jugem.jp/?eid=1120 . At first I thought someone was pinning American banknotes on the kimono, which kind of horrified me. Then I realized that it's probably Japanese currency.

@AndrewGrimm Ohhh yesss it's also called お花代...
www
If you're supposed to had them お花代(=tip、「チップ」みたいなものかなと思います)
たぶん、小さな封筒(small envelops)に入れると思います。
ホントにお花代が必要かどうか、聞いてみないと分からないかも…って思ってます。
Now I'm stepping out, so またあとで!

Hmm, does anyone know the whole deal with the old form of う verbs, like 使ふ, etc.?
Eventually, the writing changed from [ha, hi, fu, he, ho] to [wa, i, u, e, o]
But what about the pronunciation?
Was the pronunciation ever actually [ha, hi, fu, he, ho]? Did it change to [wa, wi, wu, we, wo] and then [wa, i, u, e, o], or some other changes?

What symbols are you using between []? They don't look like IPA
They aren't, that's just an array
Sorry for sloppy notation
Apparently I can't edit my old message for some reason.
Anyways, I meant [は,ひ,ふ,へ,ほ] => [わ,い,う,え,お] was the change in writing

A: Why is は pronounced as わ when used as a topic particle?

Boaz YanivIn Old Japanese (probably before 800 BC), the pronunciation of 「は」 (and indeed the entire ハ行) was PA, but it later changed to FA (more accurately, [ɸa], with a bilabial fricative), and this was the common pronunciation at least up to the 16th century (we know this since early Portuguese translite...

I'm trying to figure out what the pronuications were though
Ahhhh
I have! But I forgot about it
That does have what I'm looking for

A: Why are the particles "は" (ha⇒wa), "へ" (he⇒e), and "を" (wo⇒o) not spelled phonetically?

Boaz YanivI'll give you the same one I gave to the other question: Yes, the sounds of these words has changed since their spelling was set down. In general, no matter the language, whenever you see a discrepancy between spelling and pronunciation that is not entirely regular, this is the result of sound ch...

Yeah, this is totally what I need.
Boaz is awesome.

Do you know of any good resources for typesetting papers in Japanese? Font, font size, margins, line spacing, how to properly break lines, etc...

A: When did the "wu" character drop out of use?

Boaz YanivWhile the ゐ and ゑ characters were indeed eliminated from common use, there never was a WU character, at least not officially. The wikipedia page linked by Amanda mentions attempts to create a proper equivalent to the other わ行 letters just for the sake of completeness, but this letter (which looke...

From Boaz's answer linked above: "but there has never been any /wu/ sound (as well as any /yi/ sound) in Japanese, and thus it wasn't given any letter."

Can you use 導出 for "derivation" in the linguistics sense? I thought that was 生成, but I might be misunderstanding
