@Pandya, @TheDestroyer, Can we have at least a flag reason for "sources not cited"? It's boilerplate work to every time type that. This is arguably the most common reason to flag an answer. This feature was already requested in below post; yet no response. Any update?
When an answer doesn't cite a source, below steps are followed:
Users flag the answer to Moderator's attention; Moderator will add a banner to that answer, as suggested here: What kind of banners (notices) do we use?
After few days, even if the answer doesn't provide source, then the Moderator ...
@iammilind I probably had discussion of this issue with other mods. And here is what I roughly remembered:
Post notice has beend added or removed by moderators upon the judgement. If mods are finding difficulty (due to many no. of such flags), then some actions are required to think of. If mods are ok to handle such flags, no need to code and implement new feature.
@iammilind We are not getting such flags daily. Though sometimes we get 2-3 flags simultaneously in single day. Anyway, the no. of such flags hardly goes beyond >7 in a week. So, we (mods) are ok/convenient to handle such flags.
And hence automating the task of mods by coding a new feature may be costly.
I understand that the full feature may not be viable option at this stage. However, partial implementation should be easy. I mean, just introduce one more flag option such as "sources not cited" (like how we have "rude/spam", "not an answer", "in need of mod attention" etc.)
@Pandya I think, if such flag is introduced, then number of flags would increase substantially. Because many people including me, feel discouraged to type "no sources cited".
@Pandya No need to automate the task of Mods at this stage. Let the Mods handle it as they are doing. Only a flag option should be enough for now.
(BTW, by "Most common reason", I meant -- people may not be flagging the other reasons more than "sources cited" reason for an answer specifically.)
@Pandya Actually the whole feature is desired. However, for now it will be fine for the partial implementation. Whatever, I stated above, is also covered in the question and answer both.
