@iammilind merging is not a way to handle downvotes.

@Pandya New question posted is a dupicate of an unanswered question

Q: Situating a Figure of the Goddess Uma in a Bedroom

DBinSJWould it be considered culturally appropriate, from either a Hindu or Nepalese perspective, to situate a figure of the Goddess Uma in a bedroom or would this be considered taboo?

Right.
Another things is putting a on tag suggestion would bring some more feedbak like Krishna Shweta gave one.
That question is already shown in "Hot meta post" side bar.
Featured and Hot meta post is different. Other posts are diverting the attention
Others are temporary but this will be permanent. Right?
Btw, observing votes on the questions +9-4, it seems some users have seen and read it but has't provided the feed-back.

This post disappeared for 1 day because other posts are hotter
@Pandya the answer has 6 upvotes. I assume who upvoted your answer downvoted the answer.
@Pandya if the question or answer gets downvotes or other posts are upvoted, this tagging question will be out of the side bar.
It depends how community feeling whether the topic is important. e.g. if community feels that no need to bother much about tagging i.e the current practice is fine (as said in Shweta's answer) , then putting may not be a good idea.
adding featured for the questions for the questions which need attention is always fine.
I also think that Krishna Shweta is not ok with changing ID tag.
not everything in tagging
That is what it says now.
We actually need a feedback/answer that suggest the solution for every possible type of questions (e.g I've added one of mine).
@Pandya If we want more attention and feedback, adding a tag is better. We want more participation on meta. It is always handful users who participate on meta.
Well, I'll think for that.
03:56
Even when there was a unanimous decisions in the past, some users made fun by saying 8 users are not community. Tomorrow they may say 9 users are not community. People think votes are the only way to decide a policy.

Q: How is consensus determined on Meta sites?

Jon EricsonOn our main sites "the best answer" is somewhat fluidly defined as the superposition of the highest voted answer and the accepted answer. Truth be told, the system is rather insistent on allowing multiple "right answers" and that's one of its strengths: you can be the judge of who you believe. ...

Bah! why do you show all these meta posts to me only? I am not the one who said that.
I'm not showing to you, I am also referring many of them occasionally and sometimes post so-that visitors can also refer.
04:29
; User had asked Q1. At least 3 votes were for the closure. May be to avoid "closure", the user deleted it and then user asked the Q2, with the similar content.
Had we merged them or Q2 to be made dupe of undeleted Q1, then those closed votes could have been retained and eventually would have got closed.
Now, we have to post close vote again on Q2 and other users have to do the same.

The user may have acted as such, out of ignorance, but if we know it happening, then why not merge them?
This was not about handling dowvotes alone, as you may have misunderstood it.
@iammilind see the older one is already deleted, right? and newer post is getting upvotes also.
04:42
@iammilind I will try to add TL;DR version to my meta answer to your question tonight.
What is your opinion on new tagging suggestion on meta?

1 hour later…
05:57
, it surprises me when you say this! :-)

-> Older Q1 was a duplicate of X; When it was about to be closed, the user deleted it
-> New Q2 is also a duplicate of X; Before it comes to anyone's notice; it was answered

Got it?
So up/down-votes don't matter here. The user has succeeded in bypassing the close votes by deleting and re-asking the same.

Hence I asked to merge them.
I hope you got the problem this time. I cannot explain all these in the flag, which was rejected.
@NogShine Which one? There are 2-3 question with recent activity.
@iammilind ok. Cast close vote on new Q2
It's already.
@iammilind the new Q2 is closed now. Inform me if you find the user repeating the same again.
06:31
@Pandya sure. Consider the flag at that time.

IMO, "identification-request" is quite required. Also had put an answer supporting that tag.
But, "scriptural-reference" is not adding any value. I already opined on that proposed tag recently.

@Pandya IMO, it's not needed. Doesn't add any value.

@iammilind your meta answer on daily practice is good. Nice to find that wake up time is in Brahma-Muhurta. May I know when to go for sleep?
11:29
thanks. It's tough initially.
I go for sleep by 9-9:30. Just lie down and wait for the sleep to come. Besides, I also try to sleep 20-30 in the afternoons (power naps)
