@CollinB The planeswalker Xenagos became a god. The other gods didn't like it so they sent Elspeth to kill him. She killed him. The gods now didn't like having a godslaying mortal around so they killed her.

At least that's what I remeber of it.

the gods didn't like the idea of a mere mortal becoming a god, it ruined their whole veneer. you can't have the mortals finding out that their gods were once basically just regular people!!

so, yeah, xenagos had to go. and so did the person who was capable of murdering a god because, like, you can't have that.

specifically Heliod blessed Elspeth with the power to slay Xenagos because he couldn't do it himself... and then he also betrayed and killed her afterwards.
