@diego that was my thought too. Starting from 20, you only need 6-8 spells in a turn to get up to 50. I don't even have a storm deck and now I want to build one just to try this out.

I really dig the design behind Aetherflux Reservoir (mtgsalvation.com/forums/magic-fundamentals/the-rumor-mill/…)

The past few expansions, I've been keeping an eye on spoilers and seeing cards that make me go "ooohh, that might be really good in [particular real/theoretical deck of mine]." Do any of you have a good way you use to earmark those cards and keep memory of them?
I tend to write their names down in Google Keep at the moment, but it'd be great if I could do it on a site that supported deckbuilding or card collection tracking.

12:44 PM
@doppelgreener Tappedout.net is what I use for my deckbuilding. I think they only update sets as of their release and not as spoilers are happening, but they do have a notes field you could put those card in.
@DavidZ The only issue I might have with it in Storm is I only run 16 lands, so getting 4 lands by turn 4 isn't always possible. But that might be outweighed by the fact it doesn't die to Abrupt Decay like Pyromancers Ascension and Goblin Electromancer, I'm not sure yet. It would probably only be a one of though.

Yeah, that's true. My primary motivation for using that card would be because it's sweet, not because I think it would really improve the deck.

I think it can be good, a win-con that doesn't die to Abrupt Decay is very useful. And the incidental lifegain is also nice between my own Shocks/Fetches/Probes and my opponent attacking I occasionally get down to very low life totals.

1:02 PM
Yeah, that was my other thought: it makes Phyrexian mana in particular a lot more bearable. It's not hard to reach a point where Probe nets you life.

@doppelgreener @diego Aetherflux Reservoir is already in the card database at TappedOut.net. I just added it to my Time Warp deck as a test.
It wouldn't, however, let me add 4x DoppelgreenerFakeCard as a card in my deck.

@diego I really want to dump that into an Oloro commander deck, and see if I might even be able to use it twice.
either that or Ahri?
@Rainbolt oh, cool! Guess I should start a list or deck of "really cool spoiler cards" or something.
I did notice one of the new Conspiracy cards has shown up as a red-blue staple in EDHREC despite not even being out yet :)

You could just build your deck on tappedout and then actually add the cool card to it

@doppelgreener Conspiracy 2 came out on 8/26

1:33 PM
@diego oh. that was ... a few days before I checked EDHREC then.
@Rainbolt I should do that.
That sounds like the smart idea.

I think you'll be glad you did. You can get good feedback that way, on days when the room is feeling feedback-y.
There's also a weird sense of satisfaction for having recorded what is in your deck. Maybe that's just me though
Where has our @Waterseas gone I wonder?

Q: Update Tour to include Game Rec/Shopping in off-topic section

diegoAs the title says the Tour currently does not include the 'Game Rec/Shopping' reason to not ask a question. It includes the other explicit categories of off-topic questions listed on the On-Topic page, and I think it should be updated to include this one too.

We have an energy counter-flavored Unknown Shores, Aether Hub

@doppelgreener This is strictly better than Unknown Shores, since it pays for itself one time. It's also strictly better than Crumbling Vestige, since you can produce colorless mana the turn you play it. This is actually quite good.
I'll be running four in place of the Crumbling Vestige I have in U/R Eldrazi, which is sad because Crumbling Vestige was last month's FNM promo.
I hope I'm not misunderstanding how energy works. My understanding is that it stays until you use it, so I can save this energy until I need colored mana, or even use it for something else entirely.

That's how everyone is treating energy

Energy is a counter that gets placed on the player similar to poison and experience counters. So yes they stay until they are used

@Rainbolt I'm not sure about strictly better, because while it pays for one mana of any color the first time, it may be harder to get future activations of the last ability

More people are comparing it to Tendo Ice Bridge than Unknown shores

7:49 PM
i.e. two Unknown Shores together gives you one mana of any color every turn, but two Aether Hubs together give you a total of 2 mana of any colors
@JonTheMon Yeah, it's almost a strictly better Tendo Ice Bridge

8:06 PM
@murgatroid99 Ah, good catch

More efficient, less flexible?

8:33 PM
Yes, that sounds right. I had it in my head that you would never want to pay mana to activate Unknown Shores, which essentially makes it a Wastes. But obviously the second ability is useful.
It is strictly better than Crumbling Vestige though, as far as I can tell

8:46 PM
Yeah

Actually, it's pretty relevant for me. I can cast Dimensional Infiltrator with Flash on turn two with this, and I can't do that with Crumbling
Also lets me cast Thought Knot Seer if I am on three non-colorless lands and I topdeck Aether Hub, which I couldn't do with Crumbling. Likewise with Reality Smasher
