@ChristopheStrobbe Why not answer the Meta question yourself and see whether your stance can become community consensus?

@ChristopheStrobbe The Kafka question touches upon the different flavours of the German language and how German language relates to national identity or similar. This is why I would consider this question on-topic here – not because I would consider German-language literature on-topic in general.

@ChristopheStrobbe The Melancholy question in particular lacks explanation what kind of work it is looking for. As far as I can tell, this does not have a relation to the language. Hence I am happy with it being closed as off-topic. Compare to this question, which is mainly about the influence of an author on the language (and hence on-topic IMHO).

@Wrzlprmft I have posted an answer, as you suggested. I hope it won't be just you and me who will look at it :-)

Wir waren dieses Jahr zum ersten Mal im Advent mit den Kindern in S, Weihnachtsmarkt und Breuninger gucken. Erst wollten sie nicht, dann kamen sie aus dem Staunen nicht mehr raus.
