Is "bolt the bird" still a common line of play?
Turn 1: Player 1 plays a Forest and casts Birds of Paradise; player 2 plays a Mountain and casts Lightning Bolt on the Birds of Paradise. How often does this come up?
(or an equivalent, such as Burst Lightning on Llanowar Elves in Foundations)
Yes, Llanowar Elves is returning to Standard.

Honestly, I think "bolt the bird" play patterns are going to be common in Standard again given that Llanowar Elves is in Foundations.
The "bird" may be an unassuming 0/1, but it's a threat because it enables a three-mana spell on the second turn. The answer to that threat is removal.
I used to grossly underestimate mana dorks.
My experience playing Timeless, playing a T1 Delighted Halfling into a T2 Bloated Contaminator or Trostani, Three Whispers, changed all that.
