(maybe it's the one that works that we should've been using all along?)
I'm checking on our history of autocard linking choices, and that one was proposed here:

A: Can the Magic card auto link feature be improved?

Ilmari KaronenI have written an improved reimplementation of the mtg.js script that currently handles the pop-up window creation for [mtg:...] card links. This reimplementation includes the following features: A client-side Markdown extension to parse [mtg:...] links in the edit preview window. (Based on t...

A: Can the Magic card auto link feature be improved?

Ilmari KaronenA few more cards with unusual characters in their names, mostly from Unglued / Unhinged, just for testing to see if these sissues would be fixed by linking directly to http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Card+Name. These work fine already (and also with the fix): "Ach! Han...

I'm trying to see if we used these, and if we did, why we moved away, since that would indicate a not-stable endpoint
Ok, I think we didn't ever switch to that one. In March 2016 we were using /magic/autocard.asp?name=CARDNAME, which broke for anything with an apostrophe (hence people writing things like "Pharika Mender" rather than full names)
Then in June 20166 we updated to /Pages/Search/Default.aspx=+[CARDNAME], where in the case of multiple words we'd split it up, e.g.: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?name=+[Sphinx's]+[Revelat‌ion]
That's our current method that is breaking.
Wow, this method even works for the language bug. If I switch my Gatherer language to German, all those links still work. Searching "Cult of the Waxing Moon", on a German-configured Gatherer, gets me exactly that card, but in German, which is a perfect result. (@Rainbolt)

Any id...

There are a whole bunch of tags that should probably be renamed now that we have a 35 character limit. Since they only have one or two questions in them, I'm happy to rename them myself, but that will flood the home page. Is that okay? Or should I ask for a mod to rename them?
For instance: should be expanded.

@Thunderforge ask a mod to rename them. we've got a tool that just replaces them on the spot without any revision.
it's considerably less work & disrupts the front page not at all.

6:36 PM
@doppelgreener Do I need to raise a meta topic or just ping them here in chat?

7:01 PM
@Thunderforge raise a meta is always the safe option
raising the meta makes a record where we actually do site administration and might prompt others to come forward saying "oh there's also this"
