11:15 PM
Welcome, one and all :D

So, who's taking bets? :P

OK, for this to work, people have to talk here.

I prefer to type.

11:17 PM
Activity will probably pick up more as results start coming in.

The judicial vote is definitely the hardest one. I have to pick like 30 different judges I've never heard of before

@DrMcMoylex what, judges on ballot, never knew.
About how many candidates are on there? @DrMcMoylex
Google their stances, maybe

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC in the judicial? 16

@DrMcMoylex Overall.

The judicial vote in Florida is weird. At least for the State Supreme Court, you just vote whether or not to retain each current judge. If the vote goes against him, then a new one is appointed.
But basically nobody knows the judges that well, so none of them ever get kicked out.

11:20 PM
we need to get rid of FPTP
Kick them all out, perhaps?

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC 59 if I counted correctly

I voted not to retain all but one on the ballot here.

Why is nc not referenda in google.com/search?q=election+electoral+map?
I can't vote, too young :P
Trump started with 80% popular vote, but it's declined to 74%

The amendments are a lot easier to vote on

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Maybe they don't have a referendum this year? I don't live there, so no idea.

11:22 PM
@DrMcMoylex amendments? (!)

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Really? I Thought it was the other way around

@DrMcMoylex Yeah!

@DrMcMoylex There's one in Florida that is worded really deceptively. It even went to court, where the court sided with the current wording (the court is made up of mostly conservative judges, and so are the supporters).

What amendments?

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Yeah. Stuff like "should we increase X tax? Should we change minimum wage? Should assisted suicide be legal?" etc.
There's only 2 I can't really decide on

11:23 PM
Medical marijuana on the ballot here, too.

@DrMcMoylex how does that get factored into the law and stuff?

We're way ahead of you. :P

Trump declined to 72...
@DrMcMoylex yeah...

@DrMcMoylex Yeah... it was on the ballot last time, but lost with 58% yes. (needs 60)

Is it like referendum style, the amendments?

11:24 PM
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC He was only expected to win Kentucky by about 20 points, so it's expected he won't stay at 80%.

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC I don't really know. If you want to see what I'm voting on, you could probably Google "Colorado amendments"
And then I have 3 county ones and 4 city ones

i am so ignorant of the electoral process in usa...
ColoradoCare XD

I'm somewhat tempted to right in "deez nuts" for president...
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Yeah, that one's definitely the most controversial here

@arda learn about us election, first-hand
Independents underperforming compared to polls

I know a lot about us politics, tbh

11:27 PM
What happens if you write-in "Hillary Clinton"?

It gets counted for Hillary Clinton.

hrc gets a vote
so does republicans

What happens if you write-in "Shillary "email" Clinton"?

Welp

Hopefully they just tear up your ballot.

11:28 PM
What happens if you write in ' DROP TABLE Votes;--?
4

I Did it. Time to go drop it off

It gets counted as invalid

@Geobits did you vote yet?

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Yeah, a week ago. Lines are dumb.

Somebody write in SQL injection.

11:29 PM
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Write-ins are tallied manually...

Live election coverage from TNB
@Geobits Maybe do a XSS and it gets featured in "ridiculous write-ins" section, causing the XSS to trigger?
I wish minxomat was here.
Trump: 000 electoral college; 69% popular vote
Pin, update it constantly

Results this early don't mean anything

I know, but let's get the machine started
Clinton: 000 electoral college; 28% popular vote

It takes a mod to edit to update it though

@Doorknob
Independents: 000 electoral college; 3.8% popular vote

11:33 PM
Welcome to the US 2016 Apocalypse!
5

@ConorO'Brien Live coverage from code golfers!

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC uhmm, shouldn't this be Clinton ?
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC or this

Keep pinning and repinning the message

No thanks. Too much work.

Give out some RO status, @Geobits?
Others can do it.

11:36 PM
I don't think we need it pinned. There are a million places online to see the counts, and they all vary slightly while it's going on, so there's no one definitive number until it's done.

@Geobits Well, this is not just a chatroom, it's community coverage

It's actually a chatroom :P

> not just a chatroom

But it isn't meant to be coverage. It's meant to be a place to chat about it to keep it out of TNB.
There's enough coverage everywhere else.

I want a public, open, driven by us coverage.

11:39 PM
I want a bag of money.

ditto
I want a ditto

hai
oh yeah
#MAKE AMERICA GAOT AGAIN
#VOTE GAOT
PLS SATR ;___; :P

I could also use a ditto. Well, in Pokemon Go anyway. I've got them in everything else.

The real decision: Celery vs Carrots?

@HelkaHomba baby carrot

11:47 PM
(Trump's campaign was often compared to a dumpster fire.)

@HelkaHomba Carrot. How is that even a decision?

^
this poll is like sheep vs goats

Right. Clearly sheep win.

Onion = 3rd party candidate

Oh. Well onion is pretty damned appetizing...

11:49 PM
tin cans are 5th party candidate

Pfft. Tin Can is clearly not a serious candidate. They're just going to split the goat vote so onions and carrots have a harder time of it.

but it's appealing to goats

Why are you guys worrying about the vegetables the real fight is in the fruit senate

Is tomato running for a seat in the fruit again? They keep trying, but...

life would be better if pumpkin got in

11:56 PM
No but I hear jicama is running this year

I will say, dropping off the ballot was way easier than I expected. No lines. I just walked in and dropped it off, and walked out
It took longer to find parking

@quartata who are they? sounds like some crazy wannabe

@quartata Isn't that a tuber? Clearly it needs to be running for a veggie seat.

@DrMcMoylex what does dropping off the ballot entail?

@ConorO'Brien parking, walking into a building, and slipping a piece of paper in a box

11:57 PM
oh
like, you prefilled it?

Yup

I thought you meant that you were on the ballot >_<
idk why

Oh, hahaha
I can't run for another 16 years anyway. :P

Geobits preparing for 2020 run yet?

No, shoot it's 20. A Few days short

11:59 PM
> This is a developing story, but the Los Angeles Times is reporting a shooting near a polling place in Azusa, California, a city in the San Gabriel Valley. It’s being reported that one person is dead, multiple people have been shot and the shooter is heavily armed and active. We will, of course, be keeping our eye on this.

D:
who's the statement from?

@feersum I should probably scrub my chat history before I announce.

Oh no.

Man

@ConorO'Brien Got that snippet from 538.
