small poll to all old users. Did anyone notice such a downturn in use before (As in last summer or two summers ago)? Is it because people go away to where there is no internet or is this more serious?

@ShmuelBrin Northern-hemisphere is a traditional time for less traffic in Internet fora. There must be a way to look up traffic stats....

12:43 AM
@ShmuelBrin Not to my knowledge but you've been here longer than I.
@AdamMosheh It was because the tag was there. I have no qualms with the retag.

Vote count is theoretically public through the posters rep page. — Double AA 2 days ago
I must be missing the reference judaism.stackexchange.com/questions/17657/…

@ShmuelBrin I checked the stats page and there do not seem (at a glance; I didn't do any time-series analysis) to be fewer posts of late. There are however fewer upvotes of late -- which I guess may well indicate that there are fewer good posts.

Q: Is one allowed to take one's life when he knows that is the only way to stop himself from sinning?

YehudaThe Gemoro in Kiddushin 81b brings down the following (shortened version of the) story: Rabbi Chiya Bar Ashi used to say 'May God save me from the Yetzer Hora'! When his overheard him she said he is anyway old already, why does he need to pray such? She dressed herself up as a prostitute ...

@DoubleAA Are you asking about Seth's comment (as follows)?
I also don't think it benefits either site to cross-post material from one to the other. -1 from me. — Seth J 3 hours ago
Or something else?

@msh210 That I think is being discussed in meta (and I don't think warrants a downvote).
I meant Curiouser's first comment
I think the site should be very careful about posting a question like this -- it has the potential to be very dangerous. — Curiouser 3 hours ago

@DoubleAA I think the added caveat suffices.

The question is phrased too real.
It reads like he's actually debating it.
@msh210 (The caveat has it's own issues judaism.stackexchange.com/questions/17680/…)
I think I want to change it from to

@Yehuda - Could you please cite that? Some of us are missing the reference. — Adam Mosheh 9 secs ago
@DoubleAA - Well, if it's not halacha l'maaseh, then it probably should be hashkafah. But halachot here aren't supposed to be l'maaseh, hmmm...
@DoubleAA - Why don't you nominate yourself for moderator?
@All - Does anyone know why the Bam reputation seems to work differently than the regular Yodeya or Meta reputations?

@AdamMosheh Do you mean the reputation in chat? That number is derived from your rep on all sites, not just Mi Yodeya.

@MonicaCellio - Yes, that answers my question. I was unaware. Thank you!!!

@AdamMosheh You're welcome. I had to ask too, BTW. :-)

@AdamMosheh Aren't you going to nominate yourself as a mod?
@AdamMosheh I think it would be great to have someone with your background and knowledge of language on the moderation team.

The redirect of "mi.yodeya.com" is still not yet functioning...

@HahuGavra - Where have I demonstrated having background and knowledge of language? Besides for those things though, I do love having the opportunity to teach and help others learn, and being a moderator would help facilitate myself and others to do that on our site.
@MonicaCellio - Welcome to Bam!
Or perhaps 'Bam.
The apostrophe implies a contraction, and I can say that it is just an contracted form of V'dibarta Bam.
@AdamMosheh @HahuGavra - I supposed I just did demonstrated language knowledge. I barely even think about it. I should probably have more kavanah about things when I do them. I also participate a bit in EL&U.SE, but if you think I would make a decent mod, then I will consider nominating myself.

@ba - That does not apply anymore, since the churban (i.e., the state of destruction in which lies our Holy Temple) is becoming less and less significant. It will be rebuilt soon and quickly, so people are coming to their senses and rejoicing about its eminent forthcoming rather than being depressed about the previous times that it has been destroyed. (Cf: chabadtalk.com/forum/showpost.php3?p=41266&postcount=14 ... According to this, Hashem does not want us to cry anymore, rather He desires that we be happy. Let's not take mourning so seriously and instead be marbeh b'simchah.) — Adam Mosheh 1 min ago
