What is the story behind the other Alex? Are there any relevant transcripts discussing his departure?

@DoubleAA @HodofHod @MonicaCellio @ShmuelBrin @msh210 thanks for all the kind words. The baby y'all wished me mazel tov for is now 9 months old, and my other "baby" - the daily shiur I give - is also just as old; the two of them keep me busy enough that, regretfully, I can't come here very often anymore.

@Danield He's been pretty busy, from what I understand. He added a baby to the family about six months ago and started giving a daily shiur.
Based on all the comments about him in the transcript, the guy was beyond legendary.

@Alex he added a lot to the site. I hope he's doing well, and I'd be delighted if at some point he has more time and can become more involved here again.

@MonicaCellio I guess I should have used a different name for myself. Those are big shoes to fill.

@Alex maybe not; having a second strong Alex increases awareness of the works of both of them. More torah is always good!

Ah, indeed, קנאת סופרים תרבה חכמה.

thanks @Alex. the part I don't understand is that he hasn't been "seen" on his acount since 13, yet superuser.com/users/9679/alex shows that he's been online yesterday. That's kind of why I was asking. anyways, neither here nor there
this is the real unanswered question: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/9246599#9246599

@Dr.Shmuel Interesting. Maybe he was using it to find an answer to some technical thing. Indeed, he has been seen on Stack Overflow as well much more recently than here.
As he didn't perform any activity on either one.

chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/48787984#48787984 I suggest this is how most trying hard participants will get out of the contest, in the end.

@Dr.Shmuel on my side, there is a bit of "answer fatigue" setting in. It is fun for a while, then becomes a bit of a chore. I will likely stop on Sunday no matter what, also because I have a heavy work week with lots of travel

@IsaacMoses very impressive. I often wonder what the people behind the pseudos look like. Most of the time I am pretty sure that I am 90% wrong in what I imagine. A rare sight to be able to visualize such an impressive MY contributor

@mbloch Yeah; there are a lot of people around here I'd love to meet in person.
Speaking of which, my information in this post remains valid.

Q: How shall we celebrate Mi Yodeya's fifth birthday?

Monica CellioOn 6 December 2009 (19 Kislev 5770) question #1 was asked, launching this excellent site. The fifth anniversary of Mi Yodeya's arrival in the world will, B"H, be coming up on 6 December (secular calendar) or 11 December (19 Kislev). How shall we celebrate this? (Yes Isaac, I noticed what you s...

Q: How shall we celebrate Mi Yodeya's tenth birthday?

Isaac MosesMi Yodeya's birth occurred on December 6, 2009 / 19 Kislev 5770 with the posting of http://mi.yodeya.com/q/1 . In 2014 / 5775, some of us celebrated Mi Yodeya's fifth birthday together, in person, at a Shabbat meal in Silver Spring. Now, Mi Yodeya's tenth birthday is less than a year away. How ...
