Q: Is there a way to encourage specific types of questions?

AlexRecently I answered the following three questions: How does Rambam explain why we don't ask for rain until the end of sukkos Understanding תוד״ה תפילין on קידושין דף לו ע״א Why would I have thought that healing contradicts the will of Hashem? I realized that these are all a particular type of...

Q: Chabad beginner visiting a Modern Orthodox shul

Yosef MI have been practicing my observance with a super-friendly Chabad congregation but my area, predominantly secular and Modern Orthodox, has a bunch of MO congregations that I'm very curious to visit, perhaps to taste the difference. As someone with a Chabad background, albeit a beginner, what are ...

Question for discussion: Is @Alex human, or a script for posting HNQ alerts (and good content on the site)?

@msh210 Sounds like a good meta question...

@msh210 I can't answer the human part, but regarding the Hot Network Questions I just happen to keep an eye out for them and I've been noting them ever since Isaac Moses suggested keeping track of them here.

While answering @msh210 's question on pausal forms, I noticed that חרב is cognate with the Akkadian word for plough. It occurred to me that Yeshayahu 2:4 (חרבותם לאתים) could be a nice pun. Has anyone seen that anywhere?
(This didn't seem to me like a main-site-appropriate question, but if it is, I'm happy to ask it.)

Irene HirschmanMy mother-in-law used to make Chicken Paprikash, and she would usually burn the rice at on the bottom of the pot. Her three sons, my husband being the youngest would fight over it. @rumtscho Thanks for sharing that post here. I've never heard of it, but perhaps one of the other regulars here will have some helpful information.

@Alex thank you! Also, re your earlier conversation, I have no reason to believe you are not human. :-)

@MonicaCellio That's encouraging.

@rumtscho interesting -- thanks for bringing that here. I hope somebody here can help you. (My reaction was: there's rice in the pot? I guess my Polish/Russian inlaws learned a different version, or at least transmitted a different version to my husband. :-) )

@rumtscho I tried using Wikipedia's "other language" link. I find that to be an excellent resource for translating technical terms.
