Q: Are flags supposed to be automatically marked "helpful" when the community closes/deletes the flagged post?

HodofHodI recently asked a question on what happens to a flag when the post it refers to is deleted by the community. It appears that the flag is deleted from the queue and ignored (as far as flag weight goes). Is this the intended behavior? After doing some research on meta.SO (here, here, and here), i...

Q: Etiquette of changing which answer is accepted?

Monica CellioI have read etiquette for accepting answers on meta.SO but it doesn't address this particular point. I posted a question and after some days (or maybe longer) I accepted an answer. Later a better answer came along. (1) May and (2) must I change which answer is accepted? The argument in favor ...

It has been a year and a half since we launched Data Explorer. In the past few months Tim Stone (on a community grant) and I have pushed a major round of changes. Thanks Tim!

Since we publicly launched data explorer, the most notable change contributed back from the community was support for query plans, big thanks to Justin for submitting the patch.

We also added quite a few bug fixes/features, mostly around merging users. Some features were added to defend data.se against an onslaught of public queries. A few features were added to support non Stack Exchange data dumps, most notably a system  …

@IsaacMoses OTOH I tried using it today in "1st, 2d, vel sim.", and I guess it doesn't really work. Literally it means "or similar", not "or a further member of the sequence". I have no idea how it's been used -- maybe people have used it for "1st, 2d, vel sim." -- but at least literally it doesn't really make much sense. So I avoided it. Now we need a different thing to use in that case (for "or", corresponding to "et seq." for "and").
@msh210 @IsaacMoses any ideas on that maamer chazal I mentioned above?
@HodofHod About always saying Hashem's name?
4:32 PM
@msh210 yes
@HodofHod Beats me.

@HodofHod ... though it sounds familiar as a concept, if not necessarily as a maamar Chazal.

@ShmuelBrill Ask GershonGold. I suspect he stopped because there wasn't enough response.
I don't think that he's ever here to ask
@Menachem. Bingo! Thanks! It's not exactly as I remember it, but maybe there are other places its brought. The lashon is the same though.
@ShmuelBrill You can comment on one of his posts.

2011 was another year of fantastic growth at Stack Exchange. We continued our tradition of doubling every year, going from 16 million to over 32 million monthly visitors. We added 42 new sites, bringing us to a grand total of 78. We hired 22 new employees, and raised another $12 million in venture capital, some of which was invested in a remote-controlled, floating shark and clownfish for the office.

We’re now ranked #160 on Quantcast, which makes me wonder if maybe our big goal of becoming a “top 50 site on the Internet” was perhaps not ambitious enough. And the question and  …
