I'm considering flagging this comment as "not constructive." It doesn't really say all that much about halacha, does it?
Because non-vaccination does harm to others through the weakening of herd immunity, such a prohibition would be better off being eliminated in whatever way is possible. — Almo 6 hours ago

@Shokhet Read the comments. The Q seems to be asking not whether the person's Jewish but whether the person is in another category, called zera Yisrael.

@msh210 Question edited, close vote retracted. I guess this is part of the reason why we encourage editing the important bits into the question itself, rather than leaving them in comments.

@IsaacMoses you linked in Bam to an article that answered this question.

@YeZ I did?

@IsaacMoses Yeah. I'm bad at doing chat searches, but I think you directed it as a comment to AAAA that he might find it interesting.
Something about mixing pronunciations.

@YeZ lo matzati
I love it. I love it. I love it whenever a new user pops up out of the blue and starts delivering quality content.

@Shokhet You can. Leave him a comment with a link to chat and ask him to stop by sometime. You can even create a room for you and him and link him to that. Be sure to explain how chat works and how it's ok to leave something and come back later.
@IsaacMoses But it's such a good parallel.

Q: Are there any sources that prohibit childhood vaccinations?

I removed a bunch of comments from people essentially saying "But how could you?" Let's try and keep the discussion focused on the Halacha.

@DoubleAA if it's wrong it's my fault, not @msh210's. The feed was broken when I found it, and I went to the web site and found the RSS link. I didn't realize I should be looking for an RSS link for a subset of the content. Please feel free to fix!

I seem to recall that @MonicaCellio (or maybe someone else?) developed a standard comment template for new users who seem to think their in a discussion forum, saying explaining that we're different. Is there a canonical source for that? (I want to incorporate it here.

)

@IsaacMoses I seem to have left my auto-comments template in my other browser, but here's a recent one I tweaked from my template:
> Welcome to Mi Yodeya. We're a little different from other sites; this isn't a discussion forum but a Q&A site, where we reserve the answer space for answers. This doesn't answer the question that was asked, so I'm removing it. Please check out our short [tour]. Thanks.

@MonicaCellio Thanks. You've never posted a template like that on Meta?

@IsaacMoses no, and now that you mention it I should have. Oops. For that matter, is the auto-comment userscript known here? It's really helpful for managing common templates, except for that whole "in-browser" thing that means I have to maintain it on all computers and in all browsers and, demonstrably, don't do a good job of that.

Oh hey, remote source -- except I don't know how to make the required jsonp (what's jsonp?).

@Scimonster wow, less than a month ago and already I forgot? Sheesh.

JSONP or "JSON with padding" is a communication technique used in JavaScript programs running in web browsers to request data from a server in a different domain, something prohibited by typical web browsers because of the same-origin policy. JSONP takes advantage of the fact that browsers do not enforce the same-origin policy on <script> tags. Note that for JSONP to work, a server must know how to reply with JSONP-formatted results. JSONP does not work with JSON-formatted results. The JSONP parameters passed as arguments to a script are defined by the server. A typical JSONP request is similar...
Currently reading more about that...

@MonicaCellio Do you have a pro-forma chat comment for posting that link each time someone mentions standard comments? Such autopilot behavior could explain your forgetting. :)

@MonicaCellio I haven't tried this myself, but i'm guessing it works like this. Get the JSONP content for your comments. (Open the ARC dialog, click import/export, then jsonp, and copy.) Paste this into a file with nothing else, and save it to a server. They recommend using Dropbox public storage as a simple solution. Open up your JSONP page online, and add ?jsonp=callback to the end of the URL. Copy this URL. In the ARC dialog, click remote, and paste your URL.
Tell me if it works. :)

@Scimonster ah, thanks. If what the author of the script means is "put a file out on the web somewhere matching these formatting rules", I can presumably do that. If he means "run a web service", I don't think I can go there.
@IsaacMoses ha, cute. But no. :-)
@Scimonster thanks. I'll give that a try (from home, at some unknown future time that might or might not be before Shabbat). I have plain old web space available, so I have a place to put it that's not Dropbox.

Anyone want to check my transcription here? The image wasn't so clear, so i made my best guess.

@Scimonster Y"K. Looks good, except for חש"י. I think the first letter there is a ת, and the acronym is for "tefilin shel yad."

@IsaacMoses That makes much more sense.
Thanks.

@Scimonster And you need to RTL the period at the end so it's at the right end, or just take it out
... "correct end," that is.

@IsaacMoses It was at the right end. :P
