@Scimonster Just saying, I only got this about 5 minutes after I left the room talking with you. :: eyeroll ::

Now that I have 20k rep, are all the review tasks I can't see flags on comments?
slicing the shema? Seriously?

@YeZ I don't think you can see flags on comments at all. Sometimes the number in the review header is fuzzed. It's also computed per-site, not per-user, AFAIK, so even if you've already done all the reviews you can, the number in the header won't go down while those things are still in the queue. I think. The numbers you see for the individual queues should be accurate.
@IsaacMoses nice.

@MonicaCellio Thanks

Just posted my first challenge on Programming Puzzles & Code Golf, related to Chanukah. I meant to post it all the way back last Wednesday but never got around to it...

Q: 8 nights - 8 blocks

ScimonsterI know it's a little late for a Hanukkah-inspired challenge, but oh well. :( I did mean to post this last week, and never got around to it. But enough of that. In this challenge, i'll introduce you to a language you probably haven't heard of: Scratch, by MIT. Scratch is designed to get kids into...

@Scimonster re the PPCG closure, cf my own question there as precedent: there, too, the program could do anything at all, with the restrictions being in its form only.

Q: Make something tasty!

msh210Your challenge is to write a Chef program that works well as a recipe and also as a program. Its utility as a recipe is strictly required (I don't want a recipe for grapeleaves in chocolate-mustard sauce); its utility as a program is a looser requirement, so that it is enough to print something i...

@MonicaCellio No problem. I think that that comment would have benefited from the revelation of the identity of "Gone Quiet," but I didn't think I should say that for you.

@Shokhet it occurred to me belatedly that it would have been good for somebody to link the GQ profile directly, but I didn't think of it at the time.

@MonicaCellio Yeah, that might have helped also. I didn't think of it either.
....I don't know if this is true or not, but I wonder if this is a sign that you should consider editing the wording in your profile? ....IMO, it's pretty neutral, but someone clearly took it the wrong way.

@Shokhet oh well. If it ever comes up again there'll be another opportunity, and if not, not.
@Shokhet you mean because somebody thought I was talking about all religion sites? Or something else that I missed? I'm totally open to edits to clarify; I'm just not sure what's unclear.

@MonicaCellio I don't think that he thought you were talking about all religion sites....though tbh, I don't either know exactly what wasn't clear. But in the chat message I linked to, someone brought that as an example of inflammatory religious sentiment on MY.
......but, like I said before, IMO it's totally fine as worded....but it might do some good to soften the tone a little bit, if you can, because someone took it the wrong way.

@Shokhet oh, do you mean this?

7:50 PM
@MonicaCellio Yes. My response to that was that MY doesn't really have an issue with that, and he brought out your profile as a counterexample.

@Shokhet I see now. Thanks for connecting the dots for me. Let me take a look at rewording...
@Shokhet better?

8:20 PM
@MonicaCellio Sorry it took me so long to get back to you; I was davening mincha :P ....
@MonicaCellio Yes, it's a lot better now, I think

YeZ
@CharlesKoppelman that is a nice hat!

@Shokhet ....again, not that it was necessarily problematic to begin with, but I think people will have a harder time misconstruing it, now

@Shokhet no worries -- we're in the early-sunset time of year, and anyway no one should expect immediate gratification. :-) Thanks for taking a look.
@Shokhet right, understood -- I want to get my message across with as few problems as possible, and I hadn't seen that one. I want to make it easy for people to understand and not misunderstand. :-)

@MonicaCellio No problem.
@MonicaCellio Makes sense.

@YeZ aw, I seem to have missed it.
@YeZ never mind - found it.

8:24 PM
@YeZ You really need to pick up the steam on hats -- you're only #8??? .....you deserve better than that -- you're #1 for the month in rep

YeZ
@Shokhet I've done very little to intentionally get a hat. I didn't even get gelt on MY!

@YeZ You might be able to get it today....I think @MonicaCellio did.

@Shokhet maybe if you hurry. I got it yesterday (somewhere else; I already had it here), but I don't know if the "add several hours for padding" thing is still in place. I'm guessing that so long as it's still Dec 24 somewhere you can get it, but I don't know if it is still.

@ShmuelBrin did you see my comments brother
also
sholom 3laeicham wara7amei Aloheem ubeerchotho to you all brothers and sisters

@MoriDoweedhYaa3qob I couldn't quite parse your transliteration. In Hebrew please?

שלום עליכם ורחמי אלוהים ובירכותו

So, 3 is ע, and 7 is ח, and w is ו.

yes
@Scimonster vocaroo.com/i/s1ggP9cPEexL me last night for my friends
i made one with me saying pashu6o and cafufo but people didnt understand what i meant so i used the regular names

10:37 PM
@IsaacMoses I hope you don't mind if I plagiarize your placement of the "I got a Tablet" hat....I think the hat looks great this way!

10:54 PM
@Shokhet Same here, when i get to a computer and can adjust the hat. :)
I don't see a difference. I voted to close that one as well. — Martin Büttner 50 secs ago
Oh well.
@Scimonster The difference is that the linked question was asked 2 years ago, when the rules and policies of this site and Stack Exchange as a whole were much different. I've closed that one as well. — Doorknob 冰 ♦ 55 secs ago

@Scimonster: Hi :) May I ask?: What's your email address?
@MoriDoweedhYaa3qob Greetings :) Why use a transliteration scheme that's different from what everyone else on the site seems to use?

Does anyone else think that this question needs any more "ask a rabbi" comments? :P

@Shokhet I think, regarding a question so serious, it'd be good if "ask a rabbi" was mentioned in the question instead of just in the comments.
@YeZ I don't know of any better translation than "slicing the Shema". True, if taken literally, it's a meaningless phrase. But "porsin al Shema" is even more meaningless to a non-Hebrew speaker.
@YeZ If you have a better (even non-literal) translation, please do edit the question.
IIRC, Pisgah/Feldheim's English translation of the Mishnah Berurah also calls it "slicing the Shema".

11:50 PM
@unforgettableid eventually people will catch on
