@YEZ Yes
@YEZ http://chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/18387843#18387843 (No sense being that obnoxious twice).

@RobertS.Barnes what am i looking at here

2:03 AM
@Shokhet u gave me a source that has the person know that its forbidden and he does it anyway. if a person puts on possul tafillin but thinks they are kosher and he said lahoniyya7 it is fine

YEZ
2:43 AM
@IsaacMoses we could ping him and point out all the merits of that answer.

@YEZ bit much for a few pixels, no?

YEZ
@IsaacMoses I'm sure there's something funny going on here, but I'm missing it.

@YEZ Sorry, nothing intentional. Oh, wait. Bit? Pixels? AHAHAHAHA! Uh, no, still nothing funny.

YEZ
@Scimonster @Shokhet my progress towards a reviewer badge for suggested edits has severely slowed since the two of you reached 2k.
@IsaacMoses so what was a few pixels refering to?

@YEZ Gotta recruit some additional civic-minded newbies.
@YEZ the badge

YEZ
2:50 AM
@IsaacMoses ah. In that case, no!

1 hour later…
4:05 AM
@YEZ :)
(catching up on chat backlog, hang on)
@msh210 I think I'll agree with @IsaacMoses on that one.....plus the fact that the OP has started a bounty asking for "an answer drawing from credible and/or official sources"
@IsaacMoses I don't see this page. Is this a 10K thing?
@MoriDoweedhYaa3qob Ah. I didn't understand what you were looking for.

4:31 AM
@Shokhet That's because you last viewed the questions tab in 50 questions per page. Try viewing it in 15 qs/pg and then clicking the link again
@IsaacMoses forgot to hard encode in the link the page size. There is only 832 pages at 15 qs/pg

@DoubleAA Got it. Thanks!
@DoubleAA ( How'd you guess I had questions at 50? )
@IsaacMoses I'm not so certain that this one is rather than

4:57 AM
@IsaacMoses IDK if this one is either, because it includes elements of halacha and minhag as well.
@YEZ As has my progress toward another badge, since I got the right to VtC.....I can't flag questions anymore!!

5:24 AM
@Shokhet When i got that on SO, i'm able to continue to flag for custom migration paths, comments, and answers.
@YEZ Is that because we take away your reviews by doing them, or by editing?

@Shokhet Every action we take should be taken in light of halacha. But that question seems like a one to me.

5:42 AM
Please daven for יהודה יהושע בן ברנדה who was shot in Jerusalem last night. He is in critical condition.

@MoriDoweedhYaa3qob you had asked for a source earlier regarding the validity of an incorrect bracha on food or something of that nature.

5 hours later…
12:13 PM
@RobertS.Barnes not only food but everything which requires a barocho

YEZ
12:35 PM
@Scimonster no it's because there is a lack of suggested edits to approve.

12:54 PM
@msh210 You can't dupe to unanswered questions anymore, can you?

1:13 PM
@IsaacMoses No, you can't. I tried that recently. (By flagging here, and voting on SO.)

1:25 PM
@Scimonster That's why I specified "question" ....I forgot about migration (I haven't seen so much of that here, but I think I flagged a post a while ago for MY Meta)
@msh210 @IsaacMoses Alright
Anyone have a convenient Meta MY link for "link only answers"?

Q: Link only answers

Gemini ManThere are several examples of link only answers which are as we know deprecated and not very useful for this site. Usually someone comments on the answer requesting a summary of the link, or similar request, but many times this request is not fulfilled by the OP (for whatever reason) and months o...

Q: Are "see this source" answers link-only?

ScimonsterIs an answer that says basically "see what book x says about this" considered a link only answer? Not that i've been seeing lots of these, i was just curious.

@Scimonster I found that, but that only asks for what to do if you see them, not telling people that it's a problem
@Scimonster About the same.
Should someone write a Meta post, asking what the problem is, and answer with an explanation?
(I might, but I don't have the time right now)

Q: Are answers that just contain links elsewhere really "good answers"?

romandasI have often wondered at the practice on Stack Overflow, Server Fault, and the other sites where someone will ask a question and an answer will come in that says Look here: http://link elsewhere. Rarely will the link have exactly the answer necessary -- often it's an entire article -- yet these a...

Q: Your answer is in another castle: when is an answer not an answer?

Shog9I think we can all agree, this sucks: If you've been around a little while, you've probably encountered hundreds of answers like this in various forums, some of them even marked as "The Answer" by well-meaning1 forum admins looking to close a thread. We could try to enumerate the commonly-obse...

@Scimonster Thanks!
Without summarizing what Rabbi Shafier says, this is a link only answer and in danger of being converted to a comment. (See also here) Please add some more information to your answer. — Shokhet 15 secs ago
(I did not flag this answer as "not an answer," because I think it can be easily edited to become an answer.
And then:
So turn it into a comment, I just wanted Ray to have the information. — Jake 1 min ago

(To find the second link, i did an MSE search for "castle".) Then i just had to read through this topic:

I can't do that, that's up to the moderators (and maybe high-rep users? not sure) ....but for now I think we can leave it, in case someone who has listened to the shiur is inclined to edit it to include the relevant info. — Shokhet 17 secs ago

Q: <kbd> elements are way intrusive

Paul Fisher<kbd> is a great way to mark up text to be entered. But when you use it on Stack Exchange sites, it's really difficult to read. For instance, say I typed this sentence by starting with a Shift+F, then used o, followed by r, then space, you can see that it quickly becomes an unreadable mess of box...

@Shokhet Seriously, you posted in the amount of time it took me to press <kbd>enter</kbd> + <kbd>ctrl</kbd> + <kbd>v</kbd> + <kbd>enter</kbd>?
Dang, no <kbd> on chat.

@Scimonster I was about to do it anyway, and I think we posted at about the same time

@Shokhet Well, i suppose you didn't need the first <enter>, so you got there first. :P

@Scimonster Perhaps. Anyway, I gotta go now, so see you around :)

4 hours later…
6:30 PM
@IsaacMoses That's certainly relevant, but it doesn't *clearly* describe what is wrong with link only answers.

@Shokhet True.

@IsaacMoses Do you think MY needs their own Meta post, or dyou think the MSE posts are enough?
....we have a slightly different problem with it than does the rest of SE, in that the MY community likes their answers to have sources....

@Shokhet ... and if the question is simply asking for sources, a source-only answer can be valid (depending on the circumstances)

@IsaacMoses Also true
("likes their answers to have sources" ..... when not a question ;)

@Shokhet I guess the question is whether we've run into situations in which it would have been helpful to have our own Meta post on the topic to point to.

6:38 PM
@IsaacMoses I did, earlier today (I think) .....I searched MY Meta first, then came here....forgot to search MSE

@Shokhet Have you answered your own question?

@IsaacMoses I'm not sure :) ....need to think about it.

@Shokhet Let @Shokhet know what you decide

@IsaacMoses :)

Sorry. Seriously, go ahead and post the Meta question if you think having it here may be useful. You won't lose any rep if people downvote it into oblivion.
(Last part was back to unserious. I'm a little loopy these days.)

6:44 PM
Don't have the time right right now. Maybe later.
"Voting on Meta is different" ;)
