@MonicaCellio @IsaacMoses IMO when the content and context justify it, a request for comment conversion can be granted in part, deleting the answer without creating the comment, even if the answer is not otherwise mod-deletion-worthy. (All:) Thoughts?
@MonicaCellio I think your chat comment (to which I'm replying) is worth posting as an answer on Meta, or at least as a comment there. For greater visibility, y'know.
All: G'mar chasima tova.

@msh210 Such requests usually come with answer creation. At that point, the author should be able to delete unilaterally if desired
@msh210 I don't think it'd be very satisfying as an answer

@IsaacMoses I was referring to mod deletion not author deletion.

@msh210 Vechein lemar!
@msh210 Just tell the author "no, this isn't going to be a comment." If you don't want it to be an answer, delete it."

@IsaacMoses Sure.
@IsaacMoses A workaround seems like a reasonable answer to a bug report.

3:57 AM
@msh210 Alright, but if there's also an answer reporting a fix, that's the one I'd accept

@DoubleAA Hechsher tum'ah via liquids? I skimmed quickly, but I didn't catch anything related to liquids making other liquids tamei. IIRC now, liquid to liquid transmission can definitely happen at least d'rabbanan, and there is a machlokes about whether it's d'oraysa. The exception is certain liquids in the Beis HaMikdash, which do not transmit tum'ah to other liquids at all.

@fred i meant in terms of food becoming an av when touching a corpse. See rashi too

@msh210 I posted it as a comment because it's a work-around not a fix (but I still wanted to share the info). If I post an answer and anybody upvotes it, the question will no longer be treated as "unanswered" and the bug may get less attention. (CC @IsaacMoses)

@DoubleAA, sorry, I think we were doing the same thing at the same time, and I misclicked in the process

5:36 PM
@DoubleAA, so the questions that were recently locked - are you planning to unlock them at some point, after a cool-off period, perhaps? Otherwise, I'd recommend deleting the ones with no answers, as they are guaranteed to be of no value as long as they stay locked.

@Isaac Your advice has been noted.
As usual.

@DoubleAA Thanks. Your acknowledgement is hereby acknowledged. :)

6:24 PM
@DoubleAA Ok, I see that Rashi, which says that food does not become an av. See Tosafos (P'sachim 17a), which reconciles this with the Rashi I cited previously by saying that WRT transmitting tum'ah to other foods, it is like an av, but WRT transmitting tum'ah to people or vessels, it is not considered an av.

@IsaacMoses wow, interesting.
To all: g'mar chatima tovah, and may Yom Kippur and the rest of this season do for all of us what we need it to do.

@MonicaCellio Amen!

@MonicaCellio Amen, and right back at you. To everyone else, ditto what @MonicaCellio said. I can't think of a better way to say it. :)
