@msh210 Perhaps it is time for a fully fleshed out Meta post that clarifies when a question about a Jewish figure is about Judaism and when it is about a person. My impression on the site is that most questions that are about a person who is significant vis-a-vis Judaism remain open while questions about random Jews or Jews in general don't.
Indeed, all of the examples of off-topic history questions in the Meta post about scope are examples of the latter.
But this question, for instance, has remained open, even though it seems similar in type to the one asked now.
