It certainly isn't surprising, considering what you said (that this problem sadly isn't new), but it was a unique project and I was kind of shocked someone finally did it. It really kind of backs up what we've been saying for years, especially to people asking about cheap sta''m here on MY.

@ezra I was shocked as well. Although I knew the issue existed, I had no idea it was that bad. Clearly checking mezuzot right after buying is a required step. @ezra the only thing not said in the video is that they went for the lowest price mezuza. I'm sure all these shops would also have had higher-quality higher-price options - and that is what one should choose.

@mbloch Oraita came forward to defend their mezuzos shown in the video:

In light of the latest video that was published I was asked to respond.

In my 26 years being a sofer I tried very hard to stay away from מחלוקת especially one that is not לשם שמים. However in this case… I have to respond to clarify.

I would like to mention that each mezuzah sold by Oraita is carefully checked by one of our certified magihim in our office. And while we try our very best שגיאות מי יבין And There is always room for improvement.
