@IsaacMoses :-) That would reduce the opportunities for error, but I'm not ready to do that. And for all that I want to love the place, I found Yerushalayim to be kind of inhospitable; I'm still working through this, but I didn't come away with the good feeling I was anticipating. I need to process this more. But I wasn't ready to move even before this trip.
@ShmuelBrin I do not disagree. There were multiple attempts to get a Judaism site started on Area51, but none of them got traction until we came along with an existing community. It may have happened eventually, and would probably have evolved differently. Anyway, B"H, we have what we have.
Can we change mikveh-ritual-bath to mikvah-ritual-bath? Mikveh is either from the shoresh of תקוה or is the semichut form of mikvah (if it is a segol or tzere respectively).
@MonicaCellio Don't forget that there is no mitzva of Yishuv Yerushalayim. 10 of the 12 tribes only went there on holidays. So you should certainly feel comfortable exploring the rest of the country for a place that suits you.
@DoubleAA Good point. I've always assumed that if I ever did make aliyah I'd end up in Yerushalayim, but you're right that that's not required. (Still not ready to go, but "not now" != "never".)
@MonicaCellio It says in Pirke Avos that one of the miracles surrounding the bes hamikdash was that no one found Y'rushalayim inhospitable. (Well, sorta.) Alas, that's no longer true. One day soon.
