Couple of questions I've got:
1. What do we do if we see a riddle on the main site which hasn't got 10+ in the sandbox
2. I assume this applies to everyone not just new users
3. Should we delete our riddles from the sandbox after they get 10+ so that there aren't too many answers posted?

@BeastlyGerbil Vote to close!

user61230
@BeastlyGerbil Yeah, to everyone.

Okay thanks, I assume we vote to close as not 10+ in the sandbox

user61230
There's a new close reason that just went live, actually.

@Emrakul (or flag if you don't have the rep to VTC)

Certain questions cannot be posted on Puzzling Stack Exchange unless they are [sandboxed first](http://meta.puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/sandbox). This will last until more complete quality standards are developed. For more information, see [this meta post](http://meta.puzzling.stackexchange.com/q/5267/20).

@BeastlyGerbil Good question. Old questions will create clutter, but there's also value in people seeing the feedback that led to a +10 question being created; it will help in creating more quality questions. I would lean toward leaving them in.

which means all 4 of the ones I put up will be vtc haha, oh well.

@dcfyj If they went up before the sandbox, I suspect they will be "grandfathered in".

I'm a bit unsure about 10 (+) upvotes. The Sandbox was posted half an hour ago, and currently still only has 8 views. It could take up to a day to get 10 upvotes and some might get lost if lots are posted

user61230
Yeah, the close reason's not intended to go backward through all riddles on the site. Just forward, from this point on.

6:18 PM
also the amount of traffic they had was never above 600-some

user61230
@BeastlyGerbil That's fair, and it's something we're going to keep an eye on. If +10 is too restrictive, either now, or after attention dies down, the requirements are easy to change.

@BeastlyGerbil A day seems quite reasonable to me. I suspect some might take longer. We want everyone to take the time to make sure their riddles are of high quality before they are posted.

very true.
Hopefully the traffic will be high enough.

Well, if it's not, then no riddles will be posted.

true enough

Okay thanks, glad there is potential for flexibility. Should be a bit slow at the start until everyone gets too know about it. After that it should be just another part of everyday life on puzzling.
Also is this permanent?

The sandbox is permanent.

I think the reason why riddles have such a quality problem is because of the fact that they're pretty much an "easy-out"

The riddle ban is currently planned to be temporary, but may or may not be made permanent - we'll see.

user61230
@BeastlyGerbil Right now, the plan is to keep it mandatory until better quality standards are developed. All depends on how the sandbox works out, honestly. It's something worth discussing once we've had a chance to see it in practice.

It's possible the sandbox will be needed to keep the quality standard up.

6:23 PM
The sandbox is staying, even if the moratorium is lifted.

@Deusovi Of course, no reason to remove it, IMO

Has this ever happened on another site? Or are we the first :)

Code Golf has a challenge sandbox.

room topic changed to Riddle Sandbox: For conversations involving the new Riddle Sandbox [riddle]
How is it possible to change the owners of the room? I'd like to make the moderators owners too

@BeastlyGerbil Under access perhaps?

6:30 PM
aaah thanks

np

@BeastlyGerbil I believe you'll be able to remove yourself as an owner as well
@BeastlyGerbil If you want to of course

I'll leave myself as I created it but I'll see how it goes

@BeastlyGerbil Is it possible to put a link in the title? i.e. Riddle Sandbox: For conversations involving the new Riddle Sandbox [Riddle]

6:36 PM
@dcfyj, great idea! I'll do so now

That way the two will be linking to each other
@BeastlyGerbil If you use my example be sure to remove the comment tag on the end lol. Accidentally left that on there.

room topic changed to Riddle Sandbox: For conversations involving the new Riddle Sandbox - meta.puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/5276/… [riddle]
room topic changed to Riddle Sandbox: For conversations involving the new [Riddle Sandbox][meta.puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/5276/… [riddle]

Not as pretty as a question/answer/comment but it'll definitely work

No its not working. How do you make the words 'Riddle Sandbox' as the link? Its different to questions

[]()

6:40 PM
@BeastlyGerbil In comments (and in here) it's [Words you want to use](link)

Thanks
room topic changed to Riddle Sandbox: For conversations involving the new Riddle Sandbox [riddle]
Well it worked here didn't work in the overview :/

Huh, weird.
Just go with your first one then.

Oh well lol, what's important is that the link is available for all to use

room topic changed to Riddle Sandbox: For conversations involving the new Riddle Sandbox - meta.puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/5276/… [riddle]
At least it now looks like I meant it ;)

yup
no one will ever know (unless they actually read the chat log, but who does that :P)

6:44 PM
Appears the overview can only contain letters not links or italics or anything. Odd considering the rest of the site is top notch

@BeastlyGerbil That might be something worth asking the SE Overlords, Is it possible to put a link in a chatroom title?

Q: Chat room link can't be renamed

M'vyWe tried to link the http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/29480/french-language-usage proposal in the corresponding chat room topic using the traditional : [French Language and Usage](http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/29480/french-language-usage) But it does not work. Could we hav...

Thought the question would pop up somewhere

7:01 PM
Clearly they haven't decided to make that a yes yet (or they haven't figured out how) both are very real possibilities.

7:12 PM
meta.puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/5276/… Do I really have to write the answer on my question?

7:23 PM
@BeastlyGerbil Nope, answers are not necessary.

Okay in that case I think I'll delete mine

7:49 PM
Hi, I was told I have to post riddles elsewhere till they get approved. Where do I post them?

@0x23212f Here

@BeastlyGerbil, I posted it here - meta.puzzling.stackexchange.com/a/5282/28615. So that is correct?

That is indeed @0x23212f, until it has 10 upvotes (this may be changed) it can't be posted on the main site. It wasn't your fault, you didn't know. But hopefully because your question was closed others should realise too

I see, thank you very much! :) As I am aware of the rules now, I will refrain from posting further riddles on the main Puzzling site and post them on that thread instead. Thanks for the heads up!
@BeastlyGerbil, wouldn't me posting my answer defeat the purpose of the riddle? :D May I just tell you the answer here?

I still think that +10 is too high.

7:59 PM
@0x23212f sure
@Mithrandir, I agree. I'd say +5 is more realistic

@BeastlyGerbil, Harry Potter! :D

Okay thanks let me review your riddle now, and see what I think

sure, please do!

Ah, now I get it. It might be a little vauge, @0x23212f

Aw :( I need to work on my puzzle-creation skills! Thank you for your honest feedback!

8:05 PM
@0x23212f, I'm unsure about the riddle itself but I like that you are trying to use unusual answers, thats a good point

haha, thank you!
Changed the hint, is that better? :D

Yes, a lot better
Don't think that homogametic really works though. maybe you could do a hint on something to do with a pen or writing

I just don't want it to be too simple to solve! Pen and writing narrows it down a lot. I think it might be a good idea to keep it a little confusing? What say?

8:21 PM
I actually say remove the hint completely. Maybe add one after a few hours if no-one gets the answer, but riddles generally start without a hint

Ah, thats a good idea! But I can't post on Puzzling without the +10. So waiting for that!

Okay moderators, there is a riddle here which was posted 5 hours ago. Should this be closed and posted in the Sandbox as it is still unanswered or are we only closing ones after the sandbox came into use?

@BeastlyGerbil We are only closing riddles that were posted after the moratorium came into effect (when the sandbox was created).

Thought so
