Mostly because you may want to add flags to the second compiler as well.
Compiler flags was a misnomer though. All other interpreters have Options.
@cairdcoinheringaahing Syncing.
Hey how do multi-file programs work currently?
@WheatWizard They don't. Additional files and environment variables are on my to-do list.
Well I can always use shell scripting to make them work
12:16 AM
@Dennis 2 things. 1) Can you pull Deorst, and 2) I'm planning/designing a 3D language, where different levels are represented as different files. If I were to get it on TIO, how much would that inconvenience/need to change TIO in order to make it work? I just want to know, to see if I should make a wrapper for it or not, so that it makes multiple files able to be entered as a single "file", so to speak.
12:33 AM
@Dennis Could you pull Ly?
@cairdcoinheringaahing At this point, TIO cannot host a language that requires multiple source files.
@LyricLy @cairdcoinheringaahing Syncing.
12:55 AM
@Dennis So I'll add wrapper to my todo list then :/
1:35 AM
@Dennis can I get one last pull for Deorst? Had to fix a couple of bugs
@cairdcoinheringaahing Syncing.
1:47 AM
@Dennis thanks.
@cairdcoinheringaahing 0/10 a language should never require multiple files

@ASCII-only Folders.
4:24 AM
Folders is very much 0/10.

@cairdcoinheringaahing can't you just have like a seperator like \n---\n to delimit different 'levels'
4:53 AM
@Dennis Which is terrible, Options looks like it's for settings. Opening the Options drawer and seeing the "+ Add" button confuses new users.
I guess Command-line options would be clearer.
Yeah. That or flags.
Done. Looks hideous, but I guess clarity is more important.
5:09 AM
Compiled languages have "Compiler flags", why not "Interpreter flags"?
Because that's not what they're usually called. "interpreter flags" gets 1,170 search results on Google, "command-line options" gets 553,000.
I like how the first result (for me) for "interpreter flags" is a PPCG meta post on scoring them.
Same for me, even in Incognito mode. Shows how uncommon it is.

Hey Dennis, is this your patreon? patreon.com/user?u=3784253
Don't want to donate to some random guy
9:02 AM
@GraysonKent better ping him (@Dennis)
@EriktheOutgolfer Ah sorry.
@Dennis Is this your patreon? patreon.com/user?u=3784253

12:35 PM
@Dennis could you pull Deorst again please?

2 hours later…
2:11 PM
@Dennis could you also pull Add++ when you get the chance?
3:01 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing The Hello World test now prints Error encountered! after the expected output.
3:19 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Pulled and synced.
3:41 PM
is the "▸ Command-line options" a new thing?
No, but it used to be called Options.
so what's the difference between that and "Arguments"?
Options affect the interpreter itself and aren't usually seen by the program. They're generally placed before the filename while arguments are placed after it.
ah okay
3:53 PM
say, has anybody ever asked for a language to be taken off of TIO?
Hasn't happened yet, and I'd be reluctant to comply. I do my best to make all of TIO backwards-compatible and prevent permalinks from breaking.
fair enough
i'm most definitely not talking about commata
:P
4:26 PM
@totallyhuman I asked if Dennis would be willing to remove any of my languages, he said no :(
@Dennis What's the Hello, World! test you're using?
@cairdcoinheringaahing The one of the button. tio.run/##S0xJKSj4/1/…
@cairdcoinheringaahing You did? Forgot about that.
@Dennis I'll have to take a look at that
@Dennis Yeah, because I'm making a lot of languages lately and don't want to have a lot of languages on TIO (I'd feel greedy)
Not a problem. Interpreters for (most) recreational languages barely take up any space.
@Dennis Ok, I've found the error. All programs had needed to have a function defined in them :/ Should be fixed now.
4:42 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Indeed. Syncing. Btw I'd recommend printing error messages to STDERR. I'd also print at least one level of traceback, but that's just me.
@Dennis That was on my todo list, I'm not doing anything right now, I might as well get that finished.
Be prepared for a few pulls in the next hour or so
5:18 PM
@Dennis you never replied to @GraysonKent's message chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/39668742#39668742 and TBH I kinda want to know the answer to that, too.
@Pavel I did, just not here.
For the record: yes, patreon.com/user?u=3784253 is TIO's Patreon. Just haven't finished seeting it up yet.

Cool!
5:52 PM
:)

1 hour later…
7:09 PM
@Dennis hey I see a couple of bucks there! :)
7:21 PM
@Dennis Can you add Tampio interpreter to TIO? I have used the language in some challenges and a person is asking for an online interpreter.
@fergusq Sure, I'll take a look when I get back home.
Thanks!
@fergusq Would you classify Tampio as practical or recreational?
Recreational

2 hours later…
9:08 PM
@LuisMendo Just checked and it went through a few days ago. Thanks again! :)
9:56 PM
@Dennis ok, I've added new error messages to Add++. Could you pull it please? Thanks in advance
10:30 PM
@Dennis Great! :-) It's the least I could do
