@Dennis I'm just going through the language list from top to bottom trying to implement hello world. I'm at c-tcc now - it seems to always produce segmentation fault

2:28 AM
@AndrewSavinykh Looks like the original TCC got abandoned and the newest binutils don't get along with it. I cloned a newer version from elsewhere and it seems to be working. tio.run/nexus/c-tcc#@5@bmJmnoVldUFpSrKHkkZqTk6@jEJ5flJOiqKRpXfv/…

yep, passing now
@Dennis thank you
@Dennis you probably want to keep track where you cloned from for the additional areanas setup, etc

@Dennis what about J, I'm having similar issue as with APL. can't make it print

Anonymous
@AndrewSavinykh J is weird. Run the code in the input field.

@Mego so no one figured out how do it properly?

Alternatively, do f := <function code here> <newline> echo f <input>

4:10 AM
@Dennis awesome! thanks!

Putting code in the input field works because it tricks J into REPL mode.

@Dennis When you have a moment can you push the latest at least languages.js there are some new languages missing there such as forth

4:43 AM
@AndrewSavinykh All TIO repos are now up-to-date.

@Dennis thank you. I'm sorry to be nuisance, if you a busy feel free to ignore, but now I'm struggling with joy, the next on the list. I can't get it to print anything eihter. 2 3 + does not print put does not print stdout "something" fput does not print

Joy is weird. You have to end the program with quit. or it won't do anything.

4:59 AM
Where did your learn this? Am I looking at wrong doco? I've never seen this dots afte put., etc

I don't recall. I just looked at the permalink I posted here when I set up the language.

do you remember about J? where did you find out that it has echo? I was not able to lokate that either even after you showed how it works...

When you're done, we could add a Hello World example for all languages. That would be neat to have.

certainly!
Trying to get rid of quatation marks in Joy
it's not a biggie, but all the other languages so far print without quotation marks

5:15 AM
@Dennis Luckily, we can just pull them off of the challenge (with attribution, of course)

@Mego which one?

5:34 AM
so you can do it without putc aparently tio.run/nexus/joy#@6/kkZqTk68Qnl@Uk6KopKfAVViaWfL/PwA
and without quotes tio.run/nexus/…
yay!

5:58 AM
@Dennis how do you handle script dependencies? I tried to do #include <iostream> for c++ and it can't find the include. I imagine similar things with java and C# can happen. Do I understand correctly, that dependencies are not supported on TIO as a rule?

6:43 AM
@Dennis, case in point: Objective-C. I do not know how to do hello world without Foundation.h
and it cannot be imported

7:07 AM
@Dennis never mind objective-c - figured it out

@AndrewSavinykh #include <iostream> seems to work just fine. tio.run/nexus/…

@Dennis sorry I probably meant this tio.run/nexus/…
All those language all just got mixed up in my head in the last few hours ;)

It happens. Earlier, I spent at least 5 minutes debugging my code until I realized I put the content intended for the Footer field in Input...

Okay "practical" languages are done screencast.com/t/cmQk9uWqo

What do do you think about changing the <!-- language: lang-xx --> in the "code golf submission" copy text to <!-- language-all: lang-xx --> ? If I add an example, explanation or alternative solutions to my submission, I'd like all the code snippets to have syntax highlighting. Only if for some reason two different languages are included in a submission one would need to remove the -all, which I suppose is a more rare use case than "adding an explanation".

Q: "Hello, World!"

Martin EnderSo... uh... this is a bit embarrassing. But we don't have a plain "Hello, World!" challenge yet (despite having 35 variants tagged with hello-world, and counting). While this is not the most interesting code golf in the common languages, finding the shortest solution in certain esolangs can be a ...

2:53 PM
@Dennis Could you please pull 05AB1E and Oasis?

5 hours later…
8:06 PM
@Adnan Done and done.

Thanks :)

@Laikoni I went without -all because it's not suitable for some languages, but you're right, needing -all is a lot more frequent than the opposite. Should be live as soon as you refresh the page.
@AndrewSavinykh Nice. :)

8:59 PM
@Dennis Is there anything to do if I change Brachylog's code page? Or do you just take input regardless of the code points?

9:15 PM
@Fatalize Front- and backend communicate in UTF-8. If you don't add a flag to accept UTF-8 encoded code, I'd have to convert it to your custom code page in the wrapper.

Accepting UTF-8 encoded code is the default
(Nothing to pull yet; I'm not done with that big v2 update)
